Was it possible for someone to follow a half-vampire into the forest? How was it possible that Rowan made it through these years without anyone knowing her secret? She was glad it was kept hidden. And only came out here when she could get away because well it would be silly to ask a teacher for permission to go outside when other students were around them. She felt safe and protected out here in the forest. Faster than any human, stronger than any human. She knew she could get past anyone who wouldn't use magic against her. It was easy and simple. But then again magic would definitely stop her.
The night was pitch dark minus the moon, but her sight was great through the darkness. She could see every small little detail you could see during the day with the sunlight. The Forbidden Forest made her feel like she was welcomed here. A place where hardly any light could get through. And that made Rowan feel as if it was a place just for her. Having to grow up with a vampire for a father, she had certainly spent her time hunting through the dead of the night looking for meals while her father slept during the day to take her out at night when she should have probably stayed inside.
Trekking lightly through the undergrowth, Rowan managed to hear something snap a twig. An animal? A deer? She knew they wandered the forest. If something else came, she was probably screwed, but did it matter? There was probably a good chance, she would make it out alive. She only hoped... She picked her pace up and ran toward the sound of the twig, and launched herself onto the doe. She missed it as it ran off into the night. She really needed practice.
She couldn't remember the last time she actually came hunting for blood. It wasn't something she did often, but she did come out here when she couldn't sleep to come hunt. It was when others were asleep in their beds. And it gave her free roam of the castle as being part of the night itself, thanks to her father for being a full-fledged vampire. She heard wings of a bird flying through the forest as she jumped up into the air and grabbed for it. Yes, perfect catch, as she sank her canines into the bird's major blood vein, though it may have been the wrong time to feed when she heard footfalls on the ground of someone coming. Her only hopes was that she was done before they got to her...

It was rare to ever find Alexander breaking the rules, he respected them far too much. But on this days, that the full moon was so near, he could hardly close an eye. Fearing the worse of things happening, he knew he could transform unless it was completely full, but the image of it happening still hunted his dreams. Plus in the last few days, he couldn’t deny that a few bad dreams had been hunting him, plans of killing and conversations that he could hardly make up. He had a few of them before, probably a small link between werewolves, but they had never been this strong or creped him this much out. After a lot of moving around in the bed, Alex was finally ready to give up. He threw the covers off his body with a quick swing and made his way down into the common room.
Like he had expected and hoped, the common room was completely deserted by this hour. There was still a fading warm around the room and the coal still burned orange, meaning that they probably had been turned off not that long ago. Probably by a passing house elf, since most students could not be bothered to do that. Alexander took a deep breath, walking back upstairs and getting a set of clean clothes and a coat. He wasn’t sure how the weather outside was and he wasn’t going to risk freezing out there. Plus it would help to hide him more, blend him against the dark background. The last thing the Ravenclaw wanted was to get caught on one of the few nights he went and broke a few rules.
At first he only decided to walk around the grounds, but in the end he strangely found himself in front of the forbidden forest. After the attack that had taken a big part of his life and replaced it with a dangerous course. Yet he was almost sure that he had heard something come from there, any other time he would have turned around and quickly walked away. But this time, he felt something just pushing him toward the place. Alexander turned around, inspecting the grounds one last time, there would appear that no one else was out. Probably already sleeping or telling late jokes to friends, or far too smart to go out when Hogwarts was still so tense after the attack.
Alexander finally gave up, there was no way he could walk away fro this. Curiosity was one of his many weakness and this would not let him sleep anyway. He followed right into the forest, stopping at the sound of some branches breaking. He began to walk toward the direction of this noise, until he was able to make out some shadow. Have him been on a full moon this would have been far easier, his senses always were better during that time. If only he could have better control over them, he took a few other steps forward. What ever it was, it looked at least human. “Hello there.” What are you doing out here.

“Hello there.”
Rowan tensed at the voice. She had already let the bird go, but she still had blood on her lips. Would this person see it? It would be far too dangerous to let anyone know who she was. When she could see the person perfectly clear. It wasn't a teacher, but it wasn't someone who would get her in trouble. There was a scent surrounding the figure, but it was an odd smell.
"Friend or Foe?"
She called out. Her voice was loud and clear as she pulled her wand out in case the figure would attack her. It wouldn't be hard to take the person out, but she wanted to know who this was before she decided to attack. If she were to feed, it would be a whole different matter. She would be the one stalking the victim, not being the victim of someone not sleeping.
Thoughts coursed their way through her mind as who this could be standing yards away from her. It was obviously someone who wasn't exactly normal, and it was someone who didn't seem to be afraid of the dark. Not that she was. She had grown so accustomed to it, that it didn't bother her anymore.
"What house are you in?"
If there was one thing she couldn't tell was if the figure was from her house of Ravenclaw, or from another house. It was hard to figure out the colors in such darkness. She could hear an owl in the distance, it wasn't someone's owl, but a wild one. At least she hoped it was, as she jumped at least five feet in the air to catch it with her hands as it started to swoop down. She landed with perfect ease as she stared at the figure wondering if they had saw that... She hoped not...

Alexander just stood there, unable to move until he got a response. He knew if it was a teacher he was in lots of trouble for been out this late and in the forbidden forest. If it was another student, things would be far easier, even if it was a prefect he was sure they weren’t allowed out here neither. He doubted they would risk getting in trouble themselves. Then there was that last option that he was trying to ignore, that it may be a Death eater or even something worse than them. Yes he was a werewolf and he had his wand with him, but he wasn’t transformed and physical combat was not his strongest points, he was good with wand work. But he wasn’t sure he could take down someone older, with more experience.
"Friend or Foe?"
Alexander gulped down, letting a breath he hadn’t even noticed he was holding. He didn’t know who the other person was, it would be hard to tell if he was a friend or a foe. Not that he wanted to be a foe and he doubted that who ever it was, they would want to hear he was a foe. By the sound of the voice it appeared to be a girl, it sounded a bit familiar but he had to admit he was a bit afraid, to even have the mind to place it. After another deep breath, he finally took another step. “Friend, I hope anyway.” There was a quiver in his voice and he was sure that the other person had noticed it, plus to make things worse his heart beat had increased a lot.
"What house are you in?"
At this Alexander felt a wave of relief cross over him, if they were asking his house it mean that at least who ever it was, they were still in Hogwarts. Yes it was true that Hogwarts still had some Death Eater supporter and followers of the dark arts. But the idea he was facing another student and not someone older was a still a big relief. “I’m a Ravenclaw, Alexander Evans.” Alex stopped for a bit, trying to get a better look of the other person. “Who are you? And if I may ask, what are you doing out here?” He was sure he shouldn’t probably ask that, since he too was breaking the same rule.

“I’m a Ravenclaw, Alexander Evans.”
That's all she needed to know. Releasing the owl, she darted from her current spot and walked toward Alexander. It seemed weird, but somehow the boy was going to find out why she was always sneaking out past dark or why she couldn't touch silver during potions.
"Alex... What are you?"
She came into view of him closer than she thought he was as she stood a few feet away from him. He asked what she was doing out here. Could she tell him? Was he a person she could trust? She had so many trust issues that it was hard to trust anyone expect the person who protected you at night. By far her father was her guardian, her protector, her best friend. That man had done everything for her and still looked like he was 30 years old!
"Its just Rowan. I'm a year above you. Don't freak please... No one knows what I am expect the teachers..."
She couldn't exactly get out what she wanted to say. She could feel dried blood on her lips and felt that it would be best to wipe it off before she told him. That was if she could tell him. He was out here and he had seen her. Which was something that told her that she didn't go into the forest far enough to not be seen.
"I'm part vampire. Half-Human, Half-Vampire. My father is a vampire while my mother was human."
Big difference there, but she didn't want to get into the story about what happened to her mother. She remembered that scene so perfectly as if it was yesterday. The vampire hunters ambushing them in front of their house. Her mother standing in front of her husband, while he held the small six year old Rowan in his arms. He was by far taller, but it didn't matter to the vampire hunters as they shot toward him, hitting Marie as Hunter stood there in shock watching the group leave, holding the crying Rowan.
Coming back to the forest, she could feel tears coming on, but she held them back. She could do this. She could expect his surprise. She didn't know why he was here or why she was even telling him this.
"I'm just out hunting. I can eat real food and drink blood, but I choose to drink animal blood than human blood."
It was foolish. She knew that much as she stood his shadow. She felt as if she would collapse where she stood, but she leaned against a tree taking shallow breaths. And waited for his response.

Alexander almost jumped back when the figure began to move toward him, he was sure his heart bit had gone up a lot. He was already having seconds thoughts about having followed, he should have just probably walked away like he would have usually done. Then if he had been surprised before, the next question crossed whatever line was keeping him calm. He had a fairy good idea what the other person was asking, but he could not understand how did they know. Plus the person had called him Alex, only people that really knew him called him that. Others just went by his full name, until they knew him better. Alexander was sure that if it had not been for the dark, he would have looked really pale right about now.
He took a few deep breaths, taking a few steps backwards. He wasn’t sure running would be a good idea and calling for help was out of the way, it would be a miracle if anyone could hear him out here. He finally gave up, using all of his strength and will power to form a few words that came just above a whisper. “I’m a werewolf, so I wouldn’t try anything.” Alex took another few breaths, trying to calm his beating heart down even for just a bit. He needed to appear brave, until he got an idea of who that other person was. By their voice it was a girl, a familiar one. But he still couldn’t plant his mind on whom, probably because of the fear.
“It may not be full moon, but it is still near enough to give me inhuman strengths. Plus, I’m a very good duelist on my own right.” Alexander’s hand when to the tip of his wand, only to find that it wasn’t there. He most have left it back in the common room, his only hope was that the other person fortunately did not know this. Then the other person became more visible and Alexander could feel his heart jump against his chest. Of course he knew that voice, they have spoken many times before. The paleness on his face went away slightly, until his eyes felt on her once more.
“Vampire, I thought they didn’t have magic qualities.” Alexander really wasn’t sure about that, he was not expert on the subject. But he couldn’t remember ever hearing about a vampire wizard or witch in Hogwarts. Having werewolves around the school had been troublesome enough and only a few were usually allowed inside the walls of the school. Alexander wasn’t sure on his side of the matter, he was glad to be allowed to attend Hogwarts. But some other werewolves had no witch to control themselves around others, putting those around themselves in risk. Of course denying them the right to come to Hogwarts, could only upset them more.
“Animal blood?” Alexander took a deep breath, this was just far too strange. He had just wanted to go out on a late night walk, to calm himself down and maybe start getting tired enough to sleep. Instead he had just learned that a fellow Ravenclaw was a vampire. There were just far too many questions he wanted to ask right now.

Rowan was almost near tears to have Alex, not realize who she was. She thought he would understand and know who she was, now she seemed almost foolish to even have said anything at all. She could hear sounds coming deep from the forest, but she didn't dare to look back to see what they were. Even though it was probably best to go run and hide somewhere. Not have anyone find her. That was best, at least she hoped it was best. Probably the one to find her would be her father, but the school wouldn't tell him to come down and find her, he knew that she was one of those special cases that could take care of herself until she was ready to come out. Which was what she thought of doing. Run away from here, go somewhere where no one would find her, and then come back when no seemed to care to find her.
"Alex. Stop it. It's me. Its Rowan. I don't want to duel you. Not like I could anyways."
She could see him trying to grab his wand only to find it not there where he expected it to be. Rowan wouldn't have dueled him anyways because she wasn't the kind of person to attack some defenseless unless of course that person had attacked her first, and then she had every right to take them out. She moved toward him, closer as raised her wand up closer to the two of them.
"Lumos. Alex, what are you doing out here besides wandering? Your not going to change are you? I can smell the werewolf on you, so you're already known. I on the other hand haven't told anyone of my deadly secret and if you break that, the whole school will know and might try to find a way to kill me. And then I will have to harm you."
Rowan had been serious to the tip of a needle as she spoke. She didn't want the world to know what she was. It would have been completely pointless to try to hide from everyone afterward. It had been a secret she had kept her whole life. And only the teachers and the select few knew about. If they truly believed something like that. She couldn't understand why he wouldn't keep a secret or if he truly didn't care. She looked at him dead in the eyes to see what his reaction to all of this was.

“Rowan, don’t you ever do that to me. For a moment I thought you were a Death eater or something.”
Alexander let out a breath he hadn’t even noticed he had been holding, it was such a fresh relief that the person he had crossed paths was nota runaway criminal, but a fellow Ravenclaw. Not that he would have been able to cause much damage without a wand to protect himself. Alexander moved closer, now having a better looking and recognizing Rowan more closely, he felt rather foolish to have overreacted so much. But one had to admit that after the small attacks going around, you could hardly trust anyone.
Alex stood there for a moment as it hit him, Rowan a fellow Ravenclaw was actually a vampire. How could he have not noticed, werewolves had better noses than normal humans. He felt both foolish and maybe a bit embarrassed. Rowan was a in many ways like him, had her secret gone out she could be through out of Hogwarts or worse. At least there was a potion that helped werewolves, but he hadn’t heard of anything of the like to give vampires a hand.
“Of course no, I transform in a safe room in Hogwarts, after having taken the potion. I was mostly just wandering, until hearing some noises from the forest and tried to see what was wrong.”
It wasn’t particularly smart to go into the forest alone, but for a moment he thought maybe a first year had wandered off. He remembered been that age and wanting to find everything about Hogwarts, breaking a few rules on his way there. He tried to go over his current situation, he had just stumbled into something he was not supposed to be stumbling in. He could feel that this meant a lot to Rowan, having gone through similar steps on the last years of his life.
“I understand, I should know better than anyone the importance of keeping that hidden from people that are not trustworthy. But you shouldn’t worry, your secret is safe with me. Plus after all I‘m not even supposed to be here, if you don‘t want me to know, I will just turn my head away. But just so you know, if you need someone to talk, I will gladly be someone you can go to.”
Alexander himself had his own circle of friends, he trusted and spoke with. But Rowan he had noticed was not someone that hanged around that many people, he guessed she probably didn’t had that many friends she could trust.

"Would a Death Eater wait to attack? They would more likely do a surprise attack and just kill you then and there, Alex." Rowan couldn't figure out why he would have thought her a death eater. After all she wanted to remain neutral in this wizard battle. She wanted nothing to do with it, because no one would use her for anything. She wasn't a tool. Never will be. It was simple as that as she stood there waiting for something else. Rather she was thinking.
Oh so he was not one of the many creatures she encountered in the woods during the full moon. There were many things that she saw and heard, but did she investigate them? Not always, but something had been bugging her lately and the forest seemed to be the only place to calm her down. It helped a lot as well considering she wasn't always the one to be so talkative. Especially to someone of the opposite sex and someone from the same house. She was one to keep to herself and talk very little to those around her or those that mattered. The only one who heard her talk more than a couple of sentences was her father, but that was a relationship that couldn't be broken. Unless of course he was killed before she could and kill the ones trying to harm him.
"Those noises weren't from me. Stealth is the key to being productive in an attack, but also for when one is hunting in the dark with very little room for mistakes. Those noises were not caused by me. I'm not that clumsy. Though I can see a few people who would be clumsy out here because they don't know what they are doing. But I tend to keep a low profile out here. I don't need the other creatures knowing that I'm here. It'll blow the whole secret away once one of the teachers or other students find out."
[/b] Rowan was very concerned about her secret. She hardly told anyone about it, but she was rather a normal girl when no one had an open wound on them. She was just any normal girl like everyone else, expect for the part that she was part vampire and had the craving for blood when she felt weak and started becoming confused. Then she knew it was time to get away and find something to drink from. She could never do anything in a class room with an opened wound. It sometimes made her want to gag to cover up the smell of the luscious scent that made her go crazy. The teachers that knew worried about her self control when she was on one of her off days. Even herself worried about it. "Don't go, Alex. It gets lonely out here when you have to come here by yourself without the proper guardian to look out for you. The teachers are too scared to come with me in fear that I'll take them. And my father can't come here because he'll go raving mad. Don't leave me. You won't be in trouble. They don't bother with me and don't see me when I come back into the castle. You'll be fine for a while unless they are patrolling the hallways that I take."[/b] Rowan didn't want to be alone out here. It just felt oddly creepy sometimes to be out here alone and hearing noises that someone wouldn't know what they were. Rowan grew used to it, but she never got over the sounds she heard. She could never tell anyone why she was out here late at night unless they knew her secret. She could never let a soul know what she was up to in these dark shadows of the Forbidden Forest. What she really felt was a pang of sadness because she was the only one in the school that was a half-ling. Nothing more than just a hybrid between a human and a vampire. And only weaker than a true vampire and slightly stronger than a human. Oh how she wished sometimes that she was a normal child. Where she could act normal and not have to hide everything that she did. Why couldn't everything be normal? At least she had Alex to understand the hardships she went through even though no one else did unless they themselves had a secret to hide. Which was completely unlikely, Rowan could very well hear the thoughts of others at completely random times when different minds were opened. But they made no sense with all the students around her. She stood in silence as she looked at Alex, her wand down her by side still lit as the noises of the forest rumbled in the background. Her posture was completely relaxed, but her mood and facial expression was filled with fear and worry. What if she couldn't trust Alex? Would he truly share her secret? She wouldn't know what to do with herself that happened. though she doubted he would do such a thing to her. She was too nice for that, at least to those that were nice back. Alexander was very glad for the darkness that surrounded the two of them, for once he was blushing bright red. It was a bit silly of him to think a Death eater would come so close to Hogwarts with the number of Ministry officials and Order members roaming around the place. Of course one of the many things they had talked to them about was too be on the look out always. They hadn’t expected the now deceased Bellatrix to break into Hogwarts and kill the Headmaster and take some students. They had definitely not expected the small attack in Diagon Alley and the muggle family attacked inside the forest. There were a lot of strange things happening right now and one could not be too careful. Of course when Alexander thought that he had left his wand, he decided that he wasn’t been as careful as he should be.
“I guess you are right, I have been a bit jumpy lately and to my defense and didn’t thought a student would come into the forest. The werewolf blood now running through his veins gave him a chance over magical creatures, but for the most part the other students didn’t count with that advantage. Alexander heard Rowan speak, he wasn’t surprise to hear that the teachers didn’t know about her secret. Werewolves had been distanced from the wizard community for centuries and the knowledge that they held magic was more widely know. Rowan was the first vampire, at least in the last few centuries to have wizard powers. Looking back it had been Dumbledore whom had allowed werewolves back in Hogwarts, even before the potion had been discovered. But that wasn’t so rare, he had been the one to convince the then Headmaster to allow a half giant in.
“I thought so, it probably was a small creature or something. Frankly I was worried that a first year had sneaked outside and gone into the forbidden forest.” It wouldn’t be the first time that they did something like that, Hogwarts was already an amazing place to them and a forbidden thing just calling to them was to tempting. “That’s how I ended up like I am today, went with a friend into the forest in hopes to stop him and ended up running from a transformed werewolf.” Alexander smiled, he was used to it by now. It had been a while and the help he had gotten not only from the staff in Hogwarts, the people in St. Mungos, but also the understanding of his friends. Back then the experience had been far from amusing, Alex had been terrified and when the bite came he had understood the meaning of real pain.
The only other experience that could compare was watching the Death eaters break in to Hogwarts and hurts those around him and even himself. Alexander had stood by the door during that day, the blast of their entrance knocked him from battle for the most part, badly hurt he could only help with keeping the younger students away and later helping with minor healing. When Rowan asked him to stay, Alex nodded quickly. Been alone with something like that was a horrible feeling, having experienced it himself and if he could help Rowan with her problem he would gladly do it. “Okay, if you are sure about it, I’ll gladly keep you company. Is not like I have much too do, thanks to my status I don’t really sleep much during the night. Especially when the moon is out, it tends to give you energy.”
Alexander turned to look around, Hogwarts reminded in the far distance the same as it had done just minutes before when he had been walking around its large grounds. Everyone unaware of the important conversation been led by two students from the same house with similar problems. “Maybe we can come across to whatever was making that noise, whatever it was it was getting pretty close to the school.” It had been stated that magical creatures should stay away from students, since many of them were still unprepared to work with them if something happened. Especially when their honor could be so easily affected, Centaurs for once were very easily angered.
“I just hope it isn’t a centaur, they already attacked a muggle family.” Thought how a muggle family had ended up in the Forbidden Forest was completely unknown to Alexander. He wondered of Rowan had encountered, he guessed this probably wasn’t the first time she was out here. Turning back to her, he smiled. He was part of this secret now, better make the best of it.
