The day had ended late last night for Edward, but like always he was up at the crack of dawn so that he could meditate and attain some semblance of peaceful integration with the world. He quietly made his way out of his dorm room, so not to disturb any of his dorm mates that were still enjoying their slumber, to the Hufflepuff Common Room. Once he reached the common room, he positioned himself on the floor, sitting cross legged and his back stick straight, with his hands placed on his legs and closed his eyes. Slowly the noise of the room and everything around him disappeared as he eventually attained relaxation and peace in his meditation.
Edward had remained in that position for a full hour, ignoring any movement around him until he had completed his meditation and then he got up from his position and made his way back to his dorm room where he grabbed himself a pair of jeans and a sweater since the weather seemed to be enforcing the approach of winter. Once he had gathered everything else he needed, including a pair of shoes, Edward made his way out of the dorm once more and then out of the common room and made his way to the bathroom to get done for the day ahead.
Having no plan for the day, once he had made the last stop to his dorm to drop off his evening clothes, Edward made his way from the dungeons to the Great Hall intent on getting something descent to eat since the day before he had somehow managed to go without breakfast, which was considered by many to be the most important meal of the day and had suffered slightly because of it, pigging out on lunch and supper later. When he reached the Entrance Hall he wondered briefly if he shouldn’t make his way outside for a run around the lake, but when the growl escaped his stomach he realised that he didn’t have a choice on what he was supposed to do.
Turning toward the Great Hall he made his way toward it and entered through the doors and toward the Hufflepuff table. He didn’t bother looking around to see if there was anyone he knew awake already and sitting by one of the other houses designated tables. It was custom for him to merely walk into the hall and make his way toward his own houses table, so he didn’t bother looking most of the time. He took a position at the end of the table, closest to the door, in case he eventually thought of something to do for the day and required a fast getaway.
Once he was seated at the table he grabbed himself a bowl of porridge and poured a large amount of sugar on top of it followed by some milk and began chomping down the porridge almost like he had been deprived of it for years. One bowl didn’t seem to suffice and once the one was completely cleared of everything, he helped himself to another bowl. Eventually the Great Hall started to bustle with the sound of students, which indicated that it was moving into the later part of the morning. With his second bowl completed, Edward grabbed a slice of toast and decided to have a gander around the hall. It was fuller than he had expected. Normally on a Sunday morning the students were overcoming everything that had done the previous evening. He couldn’t see anyone that he would want to move from his spot for so instead he spun back around and his attention was back on the food in front of him.

Penelope had woken up late. Very late. Later then she even wanted. Perhaps one of her more later mornings. Considering this was Penelope Longbottom, the girl who was literally high off of life, sleeping in was unacceptable. Though, it was quite the inevitable thing, especially when one stayed up until three in the morning, stargazing. Sleeping in usually put the girl in quite the sour mood. She ventured down the staircase, not even noticing where she was going as she narrowly avoided bumping into a innocent Ravenclaw bystander. Rubbing her eyes, Penny yawned as she looked around at her surroundings. After a few moments, she realized she had already arrived on the ground floor. A few seconds after this realization, she was swept away by a sea of hungry students. Feeling slightly confused for a moment, Penny squeezed herself free from the large crowd, tripping over a foot or two as she did so. Steadying herself, she let out a sigh of relief as she didn't fall.
"Bloody hell..." she mumbled to herself, as she watched her fellow classmates rush to their house tables. She never really seen the hall so crowded before. Letting out a soft sigh, Penny made her way towards the Gryffindor table, realizing it was one of the more rowdy tables, filled with both Gryffindors and a few other individuals from different houses. "Oh my...." said Penny, shaking her head as she now had no urge to sit at her house table. It didn't seem that there was any room for her to begin with anyway. Passing the Hufflepuff table, she saw the familiar form of Edward, the boy whom was her best friend. Smiling slightly, Penny decided to sit by him instead. Turning on her heel, she headed towards the Hufflepuff table, reaching over to snatch the piece of toast that Edward was currently holding, or in this case, held.
"Hey Eddie," Penny greeted her best friend, as she slid into the seat next to him, giving him a one armed hug. "Ugh...I'm so tired..." she complained, running a hand through her dark hair. Looking around, "I honestly never seen the Great Hall this crowded before," she observed, taking a bite from the piece of toast she had stolen from him. Smiling innocently, she playfully ruffled up his hair, watching his brunette locks steadily grow messy. Removing her hand, Penny tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Do you have any plans today?" she inquired, looking over at Edward with a smile. "If not...We should do something today," she suggested cheerfully, raising her arms over her head as she spoke. Stifling a yawn, Penny reached over to take another piece of toast, spreading marmalade over it before plucking off a piece of it to place into her mouth. She began to think of possible things of what to exactly do, her mind growing wild with crazy ideas.
Rubbing her eyes once more, Penny felt so tired, it wasn't even funny. She knew that staying up so late into the night wasn't a good idea, but it wasn't like she could help it. She was a sucker for stars, it was as simple as that. She honestly needed something to get her usual adrenaline running. Her mind began to steadily grow fuzzy until an idea popped within it's drowsy depths. A mischevious smile formed on her lips as she ran a thumb along the jar that contained marmalade. The gears of her mind already forming a 'fun' plot. Grabbing her spoon, she scooped up the marmalade before flicking the delicious jam at Edward in a playful manner. She began giggling as the marmalade made contact with her friend, this particular action caused the Hufflepuff table come to a steady hush followed by the rest of the Great Hall. In that very instant, the Great Hall erupted with laughter and flying food.
Grabbing Edward by the hand, Penny ducked under the Hufflepuff table as she bit her lip to stop herself from laughing. "Sorry," she apologized with a light laugh in regards to flicking a large amount of marmalade at him. "Er...Well...I'm not sleepy anymore," stated Penny in a sheepish manner, before laughing. Her pale blue gaze scanned their surroundings, watching as the Great Hall went into a food fighting chaos.

Edward was greeted good morning by his best friend with her snatching the toast right out from under his nose, literally. He was just about to bite on it and before he knew it the Gryffindor, seventh year, fireball had taken it from him. Of course at the time that she had taken the toast from him to the time that she greeted him with a voice that he would recognize in an instant, he had stiffened slightly in preparation for an onslaught of some sort from a bunch of Slytherins who seemed to enjoy using Edward for their amusement since they were certain that he would never retaliate in any way, and they were correct, it was not his nature.
However the moment Penny’s voice reached his ears he found it as easy to attain peace once more as it was for him during meditation. Penelope Longbottom had that affect on him. She always had, even when he was a child without any discipline or a care in the world. She always seemed to manage to corral him in, that was of course if she didn’t use his mood to have some fun. Penelope loved life and always wanted to enjoy it to the fullest extent and it was like that when she was around you. She infected you with that very same mood, it was something that was unstoppable and there was never a person that ever wanted it stopped anyway, well at least any person that Edward had yet to meet.
He smirked as he listened to her comment about never seeing the Great Hall so full before. He knew the very reason why and it amused him. “Well Penn you were bound to sleep in late sooner or later.” He turned to look at her as her hand made it up to his hair and started ruffling it up. She was the only person that he didn’t mind allowing to get away with that, even though there were many people who did. “However you can be content in the knowledge that even at this time of the morning you are still up earlier that anyone who dares stay up at late as you enjoying the midnight sky in all its glory.” The last part of his statement was said with slight sarcasm because Penelope was well aware that although he fully understood a fascination with the stars and the sky, he wasn’t a fan of them himself.
Gazing at his friend he listened as she brought up the exact thing that he had been considering just a few moments earlier in his dorm. “You reading minds now too Penn, I thought you were just into the stars,” he joked as he considered her statement about doing something together. Having had his toast taken away he stretched his arm out and helped himself to another slice as he considered the possibilities of what they might do for the day. They could always try and find more secret passages, or perhaps even try and make their way out of the Hogwarts grounds which were now being protected by ministry workers. Nothing he came up with however seemed to be good enough. He could see Penn coming up with a better idea anyway, so decided to let his mind wander to quidditch while he waited to see what she came up with.
A few silent minutes went by and then suddenly Edward was hit in the face by something sticky. Coming out of his daze he touched where he had felt whatever had hit him and his fingers ran through the jam that Penn had flung at him. However before Edward could put anything together he suddenly found himself in the midst of a food fight. The entire Great Hall had erupted with a raucous noise and food was flying everywhere and then suddenly he was grabbed and found himself being pulled under the table. Hew turned to find Penelope laughing and heard her apologise before she continued to talk about how she was no longer tired. Edward merely shook his head, “Well I’m glad I could be of assistance, but you really have to be a nutter if you think you are getting off that easily.” With some of the marmalade still sitting on his finger he stretched his arm out and ran his finger down from her forehead to her nose, spreading what was left of the marmalade on his finger on her face. “There you can consider us more or less even now.”
Taking a gander out from under the table for a brief moment, he returned to look Penelope in her eye. “So how do you plan on getting us out of this jolly mess that you’ve caused, unscathed?”
