Astoria apparated into the manor with a certain stagger, her hazel eyes widened as she caught herself by firmly planting her hand on the wall. Blinking she soon hurried to the stairs, groaning while she went up with a cautious haste to her step. Her blonde hair in a rather done up sort of look that took nearly hours had a frazzled sort of expression to each movement. Still looking styled she narrowly escaped the house elves frenzied approach to their mistress, they at least knew better than to annoy the Malfoy wife. All of her life she honestly couldn’t stand the sight of them, and their personalities never were ones that she could get along with. Finally making her way upstairs she kicked the double doors left slightly ajar to have room to run in, with shopping bags slung on her elbows the entire time. With a smile so proudly plastered across her face in a far than reserved fashion she only could then place them down at the end of the bed. Turning while she flicked her wrist to close the door again hearing it thud lightly, guessing it was merely a house elf chasing after her for some strange reason. Right away she knew that the house elf wasn’t fooled by her looks with thick make-up and done up hair, unless of course it was incompetent. She honestly didn't care much for them, her husband could use them for target practice and she would still play with his hair in the cute way. Smiling as she entered her room with both arms up cradling shopping bags, all from a few designer stores based in France. She had traveled all the way there to get the outfit. Mind, it was by a bloody airplane...something she would need to leave out when she told her husband about her day. Astoria had played a stewardess today for the sake of tracking a diamond and well, made a few stops along the way. This pile of shopping however would make most men terrified when they entered into the master bedroom, however it seemed that it wasn't as large a stash as her usual would be. Astoria stood with a sort of conviction as right away she kicked of her heels that were only a smidgen of the ground. That is probably the only thing that annoyed her about today, was that her height was more than obvious. Although since she looked adorable in her outfit the sleazy man seemed to be more than pleased to employ her. Astoria could only guess that would be his way to get into her pants not that she would even come into distance with him to shake his hand.
Shivering slightly she went into the master bathroom still wearing her stewardess outfit, she took of the cap to let down her hair, trying a new outlook to the style. She leaned her shoulders back wondering how she would try this job tomorrow, working on different airlines. That was the habit of the jewel owner she was tracking, so that would mean a new uniform, and a new personality not to mention a different hair color. Half-tempted in truth to try a fiery red, like the Weasleys just not to give the impression she was poor, a lovely orange golden more or less. A lovely tinge of auburn maybe, she honestly hadn't the foggiest really. Soon glancing down to her polyjuice potion store and noticing that it was almost to the warning line. Biting her bottom lip she reached up to slide the orange handkerchief from her collar, she had discarded it somewhere on the bathroom floor when she fell into thought. Realizing she would need to ask Draco for a restock yet again, wondering whether she was clearing this faster than usual. She hadn't had a good chance to talk to him for the last couple of days so she certainly hoped he would be home shortly. Hearing a few rustles here and there she took a locket she had as a prop to ponder if it weren't him to use next, and stared at the necklace as she walked into the bedroom. Her feet covered with the black stockings she had to wear with the entire outfit as she kept her height of five feet and only three inches.

Draco hardly moved from his home library now a days, the events from Bellatrix attack on Hogwarts and later under his own roof had broken the family apart. He hardly sat eyes on his own wife much anymore, he was either to busy keeping away from everyone or she was away. His own father was even worse than ever, angry at everything that went own, hardly saying anything that resembled sanity, he had also grown very ill. His own mother was suffering from the death of her sister and he couldn’t even go to the Death Eaters. He hated them as much as he now hated the Order of the Phoenix. His very own children were far away from his reach thanks to them.
This was one of those days, Astoria had probably left early because he hadn’t seen her during his trip down to the kitchens. Both his father and mother reminded on their rooms, not wanting to go face to face with his father he avoided going to them. The trip to his own room was quiet, he caught a glimpse of a few house elves, that knew better than to speak to him when he was like this. Almost a shadow on his own home. He liked to think that if his children were still around he would have moved away, now that Bellatrix was gone, they could have just left everything back. The war, the Ministry, muggles they held no importance to him anymore, he just wanted his family back.
Draco decided to have another trip the kitchens before he continued to his room. He remembered now that he hadn’t had much to eat today. He ignored the house elves as the moved around, cleaning and fixing things up. Sitting down on the large and empty table. It was at least smaller than the other one, plus after the whole marking fiasco he couldn’t enter that room anymore. The marking of his own by Bellatrix was not only horrifying to witness, but it also brought memories of his own. At least Scorpius had been fortunate of not having to feel Voldemort’s cold fingers on his arm. The man’s grip still hunted his dreams, like a childhood nightmare that you could never really forget.
Quietly one of the elves placed some food before him, already knowing what their master liked. Draco smiled unconsciously during his childhood years, this mall creatures had been his guardians and parents. Narcissa, his mother had done her best. But she wasn’t really there for him in the ways a small boy wanting to be the best he could needed. It was always about rules and manners, never about fun and growing up. Even Toby had probably represented a better parental figure, he had heard of his death. Another soukd that felt under Bellatrix hateful gaze. Even after death, her spawn still caused trouble for him and those around him. Draco gripped the table, picking mouthfuls of food and eating quickly.
He hared this house, he hated the memories the brought to him and he hated the life he had been forced to lead since childhood. Once he stood before his room, Draco took a deep breath. Something inside told him that Astoria was probably back by now. He wasn’t sure what to expect from her, he knew she had been drinking among other things, even if she did her best to keep it from him. He opened the door softly, not wanting to wake her up of she was sleeping. Oh and he did wish she was, Astoria as a mother was probably missing their children even more. Draco smiled slightly at the packages lying around, they were unusually small he noticed. But at least something reminded the same after that was going on.
At least he now knew that Astoria was here even before he moved his head up to look around. He walked toward the large bed and allowed his body to fall back down, hitting the soft pillows and cushions.

Staring down at the locket with a certain curiosity she wondered what she could possibly say, remembering at least one of her children must have given it to her. Or maybe it was her aunt who gifted her with the conditional love that kept her alive through childhood, certainly nowhere now when she needed some comfort. Thankfully though she had her husband, although she hadn't been all that loving really. She had tried several times to find a way to get some sort of help for her own addictions but the thought of losing such a comfort didn't sit well. Her own aunt had been refusing messages lately since she heard of the incident, the family all sitting comfortably in countries other than Europe with more than surprising connections. This made her want to talk to her husband if he found any interest in coming home to his wife, she certainly wouldn't have blamed him for such an idea. Although part of her wanted to see him at least, not just the animated pictures, his own lifelike self. Right when she heard the door only open slightly allowing a little smile to pass across her lips although the feeling welling in her gut only made her feel anxious.
Astoria felt reluctant to glance up at the moment unsure of what sort of mood she would be faced with, moving back to keep out of sight for a brief moment. Watching his amble to their bed with a curiosity as she pondered moving forward, her eyes glazed over she clutched the heart pendant in her hand. A little trinket given to her that was solid gold from one who loved her very much in some truth staring up at her husband who found a comfortable spot on their bed. Pausing for a moment as she moved into sight, she already took of the jacket that she was surprised she didn't already take of and headed to the end of the bed. Leaning against the bedpost for a moment while she gnawed on her bottom lip merely watching him for a moment taking in the sight. "I'm tracking a new jewel..." Trailing of for a moment wondering whether he would be a little to overjoyed she was actually doing something lately. Astoria wasn't really needing to thieve a jewel although she was perfectly aware he knew of her activities know and then. It was just something for her to do really, and a client certainly appreciated her effort into the process.
Astoria honestly should have been called a freelancer because frankly there was no sort of way to describe her day to day lifestyle. Either way she would be at any corner of the world or merely in a VIP booth at some nightclub. Pausing for a moment she spoke thoughtfully, "Welcome back, only just got in myself." She wanted to rant how the little house elves nearly tackled her down with requests but kept it to herself. Those elves agitated her to no end, understanding that he felt closer to them only caused her to be divided in the opinion. Finally joining his retreat to the comfortable cushioned bed cover with a smile on her face, snuggling up beside him as she set her cheek on his chest. Hardly moving from where she finally settled herself, honestly hoping he wouldn't want to move, she had felt rather tired herself since he introduced such a notion. With a smile on her face she almost felt like daring him to move having not felt this comfortable in a while. Curious about what thoughts ran through his head for only a few brief moments able to guess right away what he would think of, the stolen half of their family. Despite what many would say she did miss them dearly, only she hadn't given herself enough time to think of something so disappointing. Only when she allowed herself to drown in her own misery, with the sweet tender taste of liquor on her lips did she recall the pain. ___________________________________________________ She's basically wearing a white dress shirt, the skirt and stockings.

Draco didn’t had to open his eyes to know that his wife was there in the room with him. He had know her or a long time for such things, her smell, the way she moved and everything else. That was the reason why he didn’t had the need to ask her about the children, he could already feel the pain that reminded there after the events from months past. He also felt guilty about that, he should have left his family and move with his own from all of this. Astoria had family in America, that would have been a great place for them to start again. But Draco had been too stubborn and afraid of what actions Bellatrix could take. The family itself had began to drift long before the children had been taken by the Order, the night his home, a place one believes to be their safe ground had turned into a battlefield.
But those were thoughts that he hoped to keep out of his minds. There was already enough trouble affecting the family and with the year coming to an end, they weren’t going to be changing anytime soon. When the sound of Astoria’s voice came Draco almost jumped. He now noticed that it had been a while since they have spoken, they hardly saw each other already and most times together were led in silence. Guilt dilled him quickly, there was no wonder that his wife drank so much behind his back. He needed to try harder to be a better husband, the last thing he wanted was to be more like his father. The very same man that had started all this trouble, forcing him and later his son to join the dark “army”.
“That’s nice, is good to see you going out. Your day has probably been filled with excitement.” Draco paused for a moment, trying to look enthusiastic. But he was tired, troubled and far too many things were going on in his life. His dear Astoria could probably detect the lie right away, but that didn’t stop him from trying at least. “The most exiting think here today, was picking what to serve for dinner.” He used the term loosely, since only his mother and himself were really eating out there and not even together. Draco paused as his wife settled in, resting his jaw in her hair. It had been a while since they had been this closed, he had never noticed how much he missed it.
“So what type of jewel are you after this time.” Draco had never really discovered the meaning of this adventures, in truth they could afford anything they could set their eyes on. But since his wife saw it as a pastime, he just accepted all about it. He wasn’t completely happy of her going through so much trouble and possible danger thought and tried to keep away from the subject. But with the children gone and news about them scarce there really wasn’t much to talk about. “You are so lucky to be getting out, the house elves have been so clingy later. I even went to Diagon Alley to try and get away from them.” Draco decided to keep the fact about his meeting with the Head of the Auror Department, the great Harry Potter, out of their conversation for now.
It was something that would make them both feel very sour in the end. “I tried to get some Christmas shopping done, but\ the shops were packed.” Probably because no one wanted to be out after hours anymore. He bit his lips, before he could go and say that the students of Hogwarts were now going into holidays. No one he had heard was allowed to stay behind, the Ministry was still working on more protective spells after a small incident with a muggle family.

Draco had this sense of self-preservation that she had never really been able to grasp, wanting nothing more than to play some sort of facade in order to save face. Something that actually irked her, for neither of them needed to lie to one another, that in fact was why they married. Both had to much expectations, neither had any reason to truly care about what the other thought because neither knew that what others thought really mattered. There was no expectations, no second guessing one another, the only way either of them could live. Shaking her head she knocked against the bedpost with her knuckles just once to catch his glance and locked into his eyes. Almost trying to transfer that she didn't believe his lie but yet still saying nothing to verbalize the distaste. Still though she wanted to move closer chuckling in an almost ladylike way she nestled in next to him, while he spent some time to return the favor. Feeling him settle in, she couldn't help but bear a small smile and closed her eyes, knowing all well he wouldn't be able to detect anyway. Not that this was a intent to sleep but merely to symbolize she thought this nothing less than comfortable. Listening to his voice she could only smile, opening her eyes now while he spoke, and only giving a thoughtful expression. "The usual, my ex-wife stole the jewel that I wanted to give to my mistress, she never lets it leave her neck, sadly though it's a no-kill order. He doesn't want a situation, greek you see." They were always worried about creating something of an international disaster really all she could think to answer was that he should have thought this through. His current choices were the reason for hiring her, the man that made a choice to date a New Zealander while he were married to a Italian. Astoria could only smirk at the thought, this woman was playing into the stereotype more than anyone would wish to admit, loud and talked with her hands. Usually finding it fit to slap the male staff that was more than well-built for the job of a secruity guard, and far to pretty looking. Still it was agitating that the man had to marry someone so sharp, "She has a thing for switching airlines and such, not to mention moving around to throw anyone she is pretty sure is on her trail. Mind that is not from a slip-up of mine, she's as paranoid and expressive as they come." Astoria threw a picture of the jewel in mid-air with a hologram of sorts she casted with a wave of her hand. Now with a touch of arrogance in her words Astoria couldn't help but gush over the beauty of the jewel she currently pursued, "Crafted by his ancestors, such beauty, said to have been a design mentioned by the goddess Aphrodite. Such a powerful witch in her own right." After all the muggles weren't all that mad, some of them had merit to fear the witches and wizards of the world, more specifically the ancient greeks and romans. At times under the influence of mushrooms and the most commonly used Disillusionment charm, the average sized witch or wizard would seem massive. Her husband was sure she was lucky to have gotten out even mentioning he had done so merely to escape the house elves. Trying to bite her lip finding that she only drew blood deciding the fact she should at least mention something, "Why can't I apparate upstairs, after a long day I just wanted to fall into bed, and I ended up downstairs, they nearly smothered me." Astoria explained, wondering for a moment whether or not something was going on with Regulus, she had no dark mark so anything would have been a mystery to her that went on. Almost afraid that the man was in her own house but made effort to hid her fears, clinging onto her husband's shirt subconsciously. Wondering whether he felt her heart race. Still there would be that sort of silence or conversation that would lead her to want to change the subject. Thinking nothing more than to do so but unsure of how, soon finding that the simplest way would be the best. Moving on to the subject of shopping she wriggled out of where her husband had nestled into her, motioning with her index finger to mainly say 'one moment' sliding of the edge of the bed. Starting to sort through to boxes and bags, with the noise around indicating an almost well organized frantic search. So she soon slid back up and placed a box on his chest with a wave of her hand, keeping another box with her, "Open it." Astoria said once almost politely and prompting with her eyes, sitting dutifully by her husband. With her knees digging into the heavy comforter while she sat, almost considering lying back down but first wanting to see him. At the same time she had forgotten it was a present out of necessity, out of some sort of kindness she knew she may have even championed if raised by an entirely different family.

Lying to Astoria was not something Draco enjoyed doing, but with all the trouble going on right now with the family, he couldn’t bring himself to make her feel worse. Days dragged across the now almost completely abandoned home. When he actually had to go out, it wasn’t something that Draco could bring himself to enjoy. By now the news of his children leaving home had traveled around, a fairy good part of the wizard world knew of the fatality that had befallen his family. Of course they weren’t feeling down by this, joy that the Malfoys were finally falling from their golden throne was received by most very well. There were hardly any people left for Draco to trust with anything anymore, this loneliness made things worse for him.
If Astoria learned about those feelings, she would probably become more worried. He would be an even worse husband if he pulled such a stress on her. Draco was quite happy about Astoria hobby because it allowed him to release some of his own stress without having to worry about her knowing. Other than himself, the house elves were the only other witnesses to his gloom. They, thankfully knew how to keep quiet thought. Yet as Draco played close to his wife, he was fairy sure that Astoria could see right through his act. A rush of guilt traveled through his body and he removed his eyes from her in shame. He looked back at her, the least he could now do was to try and better his selfish actions.
Astoria was probably also suffering from the departure of their children. He was a bit selfish to only worry about his own sadness and pay closer attention to her own, maybe that was one of the reasons why Astoria was drinking more now. He knew it was about time he tried better, he needed to put himself together and get his family back together. Draco wrapped his hand around his wife, pressing a soft kiss on hair before looking toward the sealing as she spoke. When Astoria showed the image of the jewel, Draco was a bit surprised. He had to admit that it was truly a beautiful work and he couldn’t blame this woman from taking it from their rightful owner hands. He guessed that even if it was returned, another person would try and get their hand on it in time.
“I’m not surprised at all about that, they probably miss having people around to molest with their never ending need to serve. I thought about maybe busing them with some type of festivity, I bet Regulus would love the idea of showing himself off before his “allies”.” Draco spitted Regulus name out, he didn’t liked the young man nor had he liked Bellatrix and right now he wasn’t sure which of the too was worse. Bellatrix was mad and to their luck must of her plans were lost as she thought about new ones, her time in Azkaban had destroyed most of her sanity and for most of her time in power she hardly acted as a thread. But Regulus was younger, smarted and had an excellent mind when it came to planning. Draco simply shivered at the thoughts of what he could be planning right now.
When Astoria moved out of his reach, Draco couldn’t help to feel slightly empty with the absence of a warm body. Yet he reminded quiet about his discomfort and simply moved into a sitting position as he followed Astoria with his eyes. When the box was given to him, he took it with adoring movements. He hadn’t really asked for anything and was surprised at the gesture. He opened it carefully and picked the watch inside, smiling brightly at it. “Oh is beautiful, thank you so much darling.” Draco wrapped his arms around his wife and placed soft kisses on her lips. ------------------------------------

Fighting only focus herself to stop from allowing tears to flow from her hazel eyes her husband had become cold right away. No longer was comfort between them and no longer could she feel safe, almost wanting to start crying anyway, just to get a reaction. Such a sadness was soon quenched, at the thought of looking weak, she stored as much as she could away. Astoria knew she couldn't have any right to pry at his own lies, she had been just as guilty. Glancing up to her husband as a rush of pain tore her heart, she wondered whether he could really sense her pain. They weren't at all the fairytale couple nor were they insanely mad with annoying love, but both cared deeply. Everything running through her mind left her to show the image of the jewel and keep that business like exterior. She thought to mention softly, “The elves are so accustomed to being used, abused, they would never know what to do with freedom. And yet they feel enough power to want to overwhelm their masters.” She stated with a glimmer of distaste right after his own statement was given. Understanding his distaste she took his hand into hers gently lightly squeezing to give some semblance of comfort. Stroking the back of his hand with her thumb, trying to calm him down a little. Not at all to thrilled to merely sit next to him without at least attempting to give some sort of comfort. That was when she thought of the gift she had crafted for this very purpose to give him some sort of solace.
Handing the gift to her husband she felt so incredibly introverted and attempted to comment further when he thanked her for the present. Lovingly he moved closer to wrap his arms around her, her heart began skipping a few beats. Nearly loosing her head when his lips were against hers, her heart raced faster than her expectation had become. Grasping what little reality that was around she deepened his kiss once before she broke away for a few brief moments. Waving her hand to summon a particular box she opened it, showing a locket that he had given her some time back with a jewel set on the gold surface. Raising her hand to silence him before he even got a chance to comment she hoped he would stay quiet long enough for her to speak. “If the wearer of one is injured or close to death, the other glows,” pausing for a moment she knew that the very subject might find some sort of friction. Trying to think of a way to keep his words silent for the moments desperate to make the statements that would subdue him.
Continuing with a certain empty look in her eyes she had gone so far as to cover his mouth with her hand. Astoria knew he had all the strength over her to very easily take her hand away, even break her wrist if he so desired. Something told her though that he wouldn't be horribly violent to her, purely from past experience, and that he cared for her. This was almost futile and yet she still held her hand over his mouth, hoping to get all she could into the air. So desperate to simply say what she knew was needed, “It’s why I got the diamond redone, it’s charmed but the diamonds on your watch are all charmed already.” Sighing only once, “Now, I’m not about to go do something to get myself killed or injured but I don’t want to be a burden of worry. With this, you can at least know,” a reluctant grin passed over her face, “I know you won’t stop worrying, but I can at least try to ease your mind.” Astoria offered soon lowering her hand to give him a chance to speak, knowing he would most likely have something more to say.

Draco felt a wave of sadness run down his body as a shadow appeared to take their small room, there was little comfort between his wife and himself as the moment of the lie still remained in the room. He wished he could have the strength to take Astoria in his arms and take the coldness away and bring some type of peace and happiness to the home they lived. But Draco knew that he lacked the strength right now, he was a broken man at the moment. He had lost and knew he would be loosing many things, the faith in his cause and strength that once filled his life, was all drained by now. The truth was that such strength had been drained the moment that Albus Dumbledore had died in Hogwarts, he had become a shadow of that boy that day, everything he did after that wad out of responsibility, not out of belief.
“I think they probably miss my father yelling at them all the time” His father had been much quiet in the last few days, he rarely ever came out and only showed himself when known Death Eaters came to visit. Even then he stayed for a very short time, at times even leaving the small come together before everyone had left. He couldn’t even call those come together meetings, their new leader Regulus had been quiet for the past months, he rarely ever even visited them anymore. He guessed that he probably distrusted them after what his son Scorpius had done, but he hardly visited any of the other Death Eaters, Neither of them appeared to have a clear idea about Regulus’ current plans, what ever he was planning if he was planning something was been kept quiet.
“I can’t say a share their distress, father has been rather uneasy in the last few days, I welcome the quietness.” When his wife took his hand, Draco smiled slightly, squeezing back. No matter what went on, Astoria was at his side and he was glad for that, he could not be happier to have a more understanding wife. He felt a sudden warmness and fondness toward her and only wished he could hold her tighter. Knowing that Astoria needed some space he withdrew, the smile still clear on his weary face. As Astoria explained both objects more, this warmness melted slightly. It reminded him too much of his current situation, the Death Eaters were quiet for now, but he could easily face danger in any upcoming missions. He could simply drop death like any other unfortunate Death Eater, leaving Astoria and his children alone.
Before Draco knew it warm tears were running down his face and the moment that Astoria removed her hand he was holding into her. He could think of a moment of her been in danger, Draco viewed his wife as the stronger one in their relationship. Even when he tried to protect her, something in the back of his mind told him that she probably stood better chances without him slowing her down. “Sweetheart don’t say things like that, you know they break my hearts. Plus if anyone should ever be in more danger is me, all thanks to my stupid decisions. You can’t never, ever get yourself hurt.” Draco could almost laugh at how stupid he sounded, but he needed Astoria to be safe, because without her to put him back together his life would fall apart.
Even their children in their current situation needed their mother, Draco had been a bad father. But Astoria had been a good mother and his children loved her deeply. “There won’t be talk about anyone getting hurt in this house, our children need us both healthy. They may be away now, but I’ll fix things and for them to gain some normality we need to be there healthy and alive.” Even after this words and the still running tears, Draco knew that he meant that they needed her to be there.
