The scarlet engine belched smoke as it sounded a warning whistle to all those students not yet on the train. Caspian.. his trunk already taken on board by his dutiful father, bid his mother and gran farewell and bolted for the door of one of the cars. Climbing up the steps he turned a corner just in time to hear some great bulking prat decked in his school robes which sported the insignia of the Slytherin house sneering out the window about the stifling amount of 'dirty' blood crowding the platform and how he'd had to board the train early to be rid of the stench. Glowering Cas shot out into the compartment the boy stood in. " Bloody fat chance of that! .. Their not the ones that sink.. you just can't tell it through that foul fog rolling off of your git arse right?!" That said he'd promptly darted in and kicked the utterly disbelieving sixth year in the leg as hard as his small and wiry first year frame would allow and then high tailed it down the hall.
He reckoned he had all of about a five second head start on the bloke.. that was five seconds he had full intentions of keeping between he and the pounding he could feel looming in his immediate future. Hurtling down the trains hall, compartments flashing by on either side, he risked a glance over his shoulder half expecting to see a hand reaching out for his shirt. He never got the chance to see what was going on to his rear though because just as he turned he felt himself collide good and hard with something rather solid. The next thing he was aware of, he was laying on his side in a tangle of limbs not all of which belonged to himself. Once the stars had managed to clear from his vision he took in the boy heaped into a pile with him on the floor of an apparently vacant compartment. Purple hair and yellow eyes.... wait..what??... and right before his eyes it began to shift to an entirely new color. Now that..was beyond[/b] cool. Jerking his awed expression away from the boy at the sound of pounding feet in the hall, Cas quickly pulled himself from the mass of their limbs and crawled over to slide the compartments door shut. He then inched his way up, nose and eyes peaking over edge of the compartment window to peer just over into the hall outside.

Here it was, the best day of Teddy's young life. Months ago he'd received his letter via owl, his Gran holding it out to him proudly, eyes sparkling with happy tears. Teddy had reached for it eagerly, ripping open the the heavy brown envelope with jittery fingers, a grin on his face a mile wide. "I'm so proud of you, Theo-Theodore," his Gran beamed, scanning the letter over his shoulder as Teddy's eyes pulsed a radiantly happy blue. He turned to look over his shoulder and grinned at his Grandmother, flung his scrawny arms around her neck and kissed her flatly on the cheek. "I'm going to Hogwarts, Gran!" He cheered, detaching himself from her neck and racing up the stairs to his room, letter clutched in his fist. "I'll bet I'll be in Gryffindor, just like Dad! Or maybe even Hufflepuff, wouldn't that be something!" His voice soon faded from earshot, but thunderous footsteps could be heard as Teddy leapt about his room, already beginning to pack his things.
Of course the family had been informed, and a flood of congratulatory smiles, well wishes and pats on the pack greeted him when he and his Gran arrived at the Burrow before heading off to Diagon Alley to get his school things. Teddy was one giant grin, his face split ear to ear in a smile that was all teeth and giggles. His eyes had stayed that brilliant blue for a solid week after getting his letters, and they danced from blue to yellow in nervousness after he had purchased his school supplies. What if he didn't make any friends, or couldn't do the work? What if he was lousy at magic, or-or maybe he'd wind up in Slytherin! Teddy's nerves were overshadowed by his excitement however, and he was fit to burst by the time his Gran and god family accompanied him to Platform 9 3/4.
They arrived early, Teddy noticed, as he glanced at the clock in the Muggle station before plunging headfirst into the brick barrier. Harry followed soon after, pushing his trunk on a rickety trolley, Odo, his crow, perched precariously in his cage on top of the whole thing. "-e a good boy while you're there and mind your manners at the table, don't worry about what the other kids say about your hair, it makes you special! You've got to-" Gran carried on for a while, talking before she had even exited the barrier all the way so that Teddy only caught the tail end of what she was saying. But she stopped, catching the look on Teddy's face as he gazed at the scarlet engine. Her eyes softened and she smiled, placing her hands on either one of his shoulders. "You'll be fine, Theodore," she comforted him, the yellow in his eyes stronger now, almost like Muggle caution tape. Teddy kept looking around, noticing the stares he was getting for his violently purple hair, spiked up in the back and top, but with bangs falling into his eyes so that he had to keep brushing them away. He couldn't help it, honestly. But if he was already getting stares... School was going to be some kind of difficult.
But being the stubborn kid he was, Teddy set his jaw and nodded firmly to himself, turned around to face his grandmother and smiled at her. "I know I'll be alright," he said back reassuringly, eager now to board the train. "I'm going to go find a compartment now," Teddy twisted quickly out of her grip, rushing to pluck Odo off the top of the trolley. "I'll be right back," he shouted back at her, Harry and his family, and bounded up the steps to find a compartment.
Moments later he returned, Odo tucked safely away in the compartment storage rack above the seats. Harry made to help him load his trunk, too, but Teddy insisted he could do it instead. Harry smiled and set the trunk at Teddy's feet. "Your parents would be proud of you, Teddy," Harry said quietly, looking down at the slight eleven-year-old with violet hair, golden eyes and a nervous smile. He placed a hand carefully on his spiked hair and ruffled it so that Teddy laughed, nodded, and said his goodbyes. Another tear-filled hug on behalf of his grandmother later, and Teddy was lugging his trunk up the steps to the train corridor.
A whistle sounded as Teddy slid his heavy trunk up next to Odo's cage, and he could feel his heart thumping wildly with nervous anticipation. He was ready for the day-long journey through the country to the castle, ready to be sorted and start learning magic and everything. Trying to stifle the smile that rose anew to his lips, Teddy was about to climb onto the seat to situate Odo's cage on top his trunk, when he was quite suddenly knocked into the ground.
Teddy shouted in surprise, his elbows slamming hard into the ground while knees and legs and other limbs flew about in the kerfuffle. It felt like he had accidentally kicked the kid who knocked him down in the stomach, and was elbowed in the chest by accident in return. It happened so quickly Teddy's eyes didn't even have time to react to the change at first. He lay there for a moment, dull pain creeping through him while another boy untangled himself from the pile and looked down at Teddy from the position he had leaning over him. It was then Teddy's eyes finally managed to register shock, jumping from yellow to a bright silvery-white. The other boy looked surprised as well, but scrambled off him and slammed the compartment doors shut, peeking over the panels and out into the hallway.
Teddy managed to sit up, shaking his head to clear it a little and hoping against anything that his eyes could just turn to their normal brown. No such luck. They seemed stuck in limbo for the moment, a wispy sort of tawny color between orange and yellow. Propping "Hey!" He chirped angrily from the ground, "What did you do that for?!" Teddy scowled and stood up, now looming over the boy with the long dark hair and high cheek bones, making him look almost Native American. Which was odd, because they were very obviously in England.
The train lurched forward, throwing Teddy off balance for a moment. He stumbled but quickly regained his composure with an indignant stance. "What are you doing, anyway?" He continued, moving towards the compartment windows and looking out of them, scanning the corridor. "And who are you?!" Teddy finished, his string of questions finally running out. He frowned, brow furrowed and hands stubbornly at his hips. Boy, this kid had some nerve...

Ugly.. yeah..that about summed up the beefy bloke hurtling down the corridor outside the compartment door window. The over sized gits beady eyes shot around with a murderous glare at the various closed compartments and his hand went up to loosen the green and silver tie around his neck. It was at that point that Cas's eyes settled on the shiny badge sporting a large 'P' on the guys chest at which he gave a very vocal if quiet groan.. it would have to be a bloody prefect right?
The kid with the wild hair and eye thing behind him barked out an indignant stream of inquires and Cas cringed visibly..his hand coming up to shush the other boy, ward him away from the window.. or at least pull him down into a crouch like his own.. whatever just get him not to be so bloody 'obvious' that they weren't just another set of innocent starry eyed first years seeking companionship as so many others on the train were doing. He risked a glance at the boy ... well.. at least he wasn't.. innocent that is.. what was this kids problem anyway? he'd only run him over a little right? ..and not intentionally.. so the big deal was?..
His thoughts were squashed away as on turning back to the compartment window he got the heart stopping view of an extremely put out prefect staring back in at him with a massive glower pasted across his face.. oh god.. yeah..'that'..was a 'big'[/b] deal.. insane pummeling for two?.. swallowing hard he turned and threw his back against the door, face gone a bit pale beneath naturally tanned skin and tried to brace it closed. His eyes shut tight in anticipation of it being shoved open as if he weren't there at all. .. he waited.. and cracked an eyelid experimentally.. and heard the bloke out side swear and mutter about a prefect meeting.. and getting him later. Heaving a great sigh of relief Cas sank to the floor and whipped an arm at the mild sweat that had broken out on his forehead.. Smirking he flashed the boy glowering at him a grin.. "nothing like a stay of execution to keep things lively and interesting right? ".. Thrusting a hand out towards the boy for a shake he offered.." Caspian Lewis.. just call me Cas though right? ..and you are? "
(anddd my word count FAILS!!! O.o WHY am I in such a bad funk on that lately?!?!)
