(OOC: fith year Double Herbology class.. Gryffindor and the house of the first person besides a Gryffy to post)
BIC:
There is wide spread speculation that the historical muggle War of the Roses was actually set into motion by a set of wizarding neighbors arguing over a fanged geranium.... Rory's brain fuzzed over and she blearily glanced down at her watch..ten more minutes of this and then she be headed down to the greenhouses to spend a class re potting the very thing professor Binns had just mentioned.. the ONLY thing that had caught her attention all period.. bloody History of Magic.. she swore it was created and a way to subdue and nullify even the most antsy of students such as herself.
Ten minutes later she was bolting for the door and breathing a sigh of relief as she strode over the grounds to the green houses. Her mind was set on the fact that she'd been daft enough to forget her dragon hide gloves and would have to fake the use of them with the light winter leather ones in her bag if she wanted to avoid a bad mark when a jolt of shock was sent through her. A pair of rather strong arms had circled around her waist and spun her up, off her feet and around in a dizzying circle. When the offending party set her back down on the lawn she glared at him as she took a step or two righting her balance.. " Rick! ..you bloody git, your lucky I didn't deck first and look later right? " Rick smirked and shrugged with little concern.. In case you couldn't tell it just then I'm gaining on you in that whole strength area Rore.. have been since third year yeah? ..so I doubt it would hurt to terribly much.. Rory's brow shot up and she grinned cheekily.. awfully sure of that aren't you? .. and don't call me Rore, right?" Rick frowned and snorted before letting a teasing smirk split his face.. Right, I forgot.. that's only for your 'boyfriend' Potter to use isn't it? Rory's face clouded and she scowled.." we're 'just' best friends you prat...you know what.. find another partner for class today right? I'll team up with someone else or make do on my own."
Turning on her heel she marched off leaving behind a rather surprised and by his expression put out Rick.. served him right.. for a good friend he could be such a git at times. Heading into the greenhouse for their year she fell into place with the rest of the fifth year Gryffindors and turned her attention to the professor who was explaining their task for the day.
The mundane Geranium is a species of flowering annual biennial, and perennial plants. Found throughout the temperate regions of the world and the mountains of the tropics, though its magical cousin which we will find ourselves dealing with today is most often only found in wizarding gardens and greenhouses. Wild growth of this branch of the species is not encouraged as unwitting muggles have been known to lose the tips of their noses to the flowers fangs while attempting to smell them. The professor moved about the long table setting potted plants sporting five or six fang snapping flowers in front of each student. Rory's was pink..' figured '..she thought as she eyed the plant that was trying for all it was worth to take a chunk out of her just beyond reach arm.. 'she'd always known the color was evil'.
Glancing up across the table she spotted Rick teamed up with another bloke from their year and half wished she hadn't shoved him off as her partner. Looking up she cast her gaze about hoping she might see a familiar classmate to tackle the project with.. she blanched as the blooms before her seemed to strike out in all directions at once.. right.. or any friendly face would do really..
