Rory sat on a desk in one of the vacant class rooms her kees pulled up with her arms and chin resting on them. Moonlight spilled in across her hair, left to its natural red state for once rather that the multi colored streaks she'd taken to shifting it to.
Her kneazle kitten Severus tugged with determination at her shoelaces as she stared absently out the window next to her and as with a final persistent yank he freed the knot in one, she pulled her gaze down to look at the white fur ball with a small smirk. twisting her wrist a bit she flicked the the wand in her hand in the direction of the kitten and chuckled softly as the hair down the center of his head lengthend and darkend into a green mohock. Sev's eyes crossed and an indignant paw whisked up to bat at the green fur, a pitifully disgruntled mew issuing from his muzzle.
" Serves you right yeah? ..you been a prat all day.. after my shoes like that.. don't know what your on about with it.. "
Glancing up from him she took in the quite door closed on the hall beyond and glanced at her watch before lazily flicking her wand at her shoe and retieing it. Al had said he'd be here after prefect rounds.. that he had something to show her. She'd thought he'd be finished by now but of course anything could have come up during them.
Shifting a bit for a better view out the window, she took in the bright stars on the black velvet surrounding the moon. Her mind playing out one of them falling from its place though they all remained in place.. a bitter sweet feeling clenching at her heart at the memory of Christmas eve. ..forget it Rory,.. leave it in the past and be glad he'll still speak to you after that right? This 'is' the way you wanted things after all..still friends..just friends.. well.. the way they need to be anyway.. the thoughts spoken silently in the privacy of her own head pulled a slightly depressed sigh from her.. one the green haired cat was less than willing to give his normal comfort for considering the his current 'do' at the hand of her wand.

Looking around carefully before turning a corner, Al set off at a jog down a corridor and up a set of stairs as fast as he could while still being quiet. Quidditch practice was doing him good, so that he wasn't out of breath, but he couldn't go too fast unless he wanted to attract unwanted attention. After all, he was done with prefect duties, finally. He could tell he was late to see Rory (it just felt later than it should be), but it was because he had busted a couple in an empty classroom just a few minutes ago and had to take care of points and detentions and such stuff before heading off.
He was a horrible hypocrite, but he still managed to get sleep at night.
He had a reason for this meeting, though. He had something that he had to show Rory, because the secrecy wasn't something that settled well in his stomach. They were best friends, and if he planned on winning her over and getting her to finally admit that she liked him, Albus knew he needed to be as honest as possible. Plus, he didn't like keeping big secrets from her (or little secrets, for that matter), because they told each other everything. Well, most everything, except for apparently how they felt about the other person.
Shaking his head with a small frown, Al pointed his lit wand in front of him and continued on up a staircase, keeping his wand lower to the ground so as to not disturb the sleeping portraits, who tended to get very cranky if woken. He didn't want to think about things like Christmas Eve and all that. Distracting himself, he started mentally going over everything he could remember about animagus, preparing himself for what was to come. He had done it numerous times now without any fault, but it was hard to feel completely confident about changing when he could still clearly remember the pain of the time he splinched himself...
"You just have to do it, Potter. You've got this. You can do it," he muttered to himself, before silently making his wand tip go dark as he passed through a corridor full of low hanging portraits, who happened to be the unhappiest of the masses. His shoes barely made a noise as he tip toed down the corridor, but he still felt as if he were being too loud. It was times like these that he wished he could nick the Invisibility Cloak from his father for nighttime wanderings. He didn't have it, though, so he made sure to check his path carefully, and keep an eye out, as he finally made it to the classroom they decided on and let himself in.
Albus got a sight of Rory sitting on a desk, bathed in moonlight, and felt a pressure on his chest and stomach as if he had suddenly lost his breath. It took him what felt like forever to blink and notice the little furball with a green mohawk that was messing with her shoelaces. Grinning widely at both the sight of his best friend and her little kneazle kitten that he bought for her, Al moved over to them and tucked his wand into his pocket.
"Hey," he said, "sorry I'm late, but I had to bust this couple in the closet on the third floor and give some punishments." Letting out a soft laugh, Al reached up to loosen his tie, feeling nerves flutter in his stomach as he tried to decide what to say to Rory. "I...er...wanted to tell you something but...well actually more like show. It'd be easier if I just showed you, I guess. It's, erm, something I've been working on for a long while now." With a sheepish look, Al pulled out his wand again and levitated out a small space for himself within the desks, then set his wand aside carefully, wanting to get this over with.

" Which of course you had to yeah? ..After all.. no one would ever catch 'you' stealing a few minute snog with a girl you liked yeah? "
She happened to know for a fact from a chance stumbling on he and a certain Malfoy in the past that that was very much not the case. Her quirked brow and teasing grin were quick to fall away though. For one thing, taking the mickey out of Al where girls were concerned tended to backfire on her these days. For another..Al was nervous about something, and the more he tripped over his own words the more she realized how seriously nervous he was.
Shifting in her seat with a small frown she lowered her legs over the edge of the desk and grasped the table at either of her sides, sitting up to show he had her full and undivided attention. An encouraging smile pulled at the corner of her mouth and she eyed him with a curious grey gaze. A light and friendly shrug tugged at her shoulders.
" So .. go on then..show me yeah?.."
As the whole of his words caught up in her mind she wrinkled her brow a bit.. hang on..had he said he'd been working on this for a 'long' while now? ..and he hadn't thought to share it before now? ... well... she supposed she had been a bit of a distant arse as of late, but still..

It was now or never. He had to just buck up his courage that had to be somewhere deep down (being a Gryffindor and all), and change into his animagus form. He didn't have a clue how Rory would react, for a number of reasons. For one, it wasn't every day that your best friend changed into an animal randomly in front of your eyes. For another thing, his form wasn't exactly the...friendliest looking thing. Albus hoped that Rory had been paying attention in transfiguration when they covered the fact that Animagi kept their minds and senses when they changed. He would still be him, no matter how big and fuzzy.
"Okay...here goes nothing," he said, taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly. Taking another step back, mostly out of nerves, Al closed his eyes in concentration and felt a sort of tingling go throughout his body, and weird shiftings that weren't painful, but just odd. He felt himself get shorter but longer, hair sprout out everywhere, and yet he knew it was going too fast for Rory to really see any changes. When he blinked open his eyes, Al was staring at Rory while in the form of a big white wolf, his green eyes the same as ever.
The question or whether or not canines saw in black and white couldn't be answered by him. He saw in color, because he still had a human brain. Everything else seemed to be the same as if he were a wolf, however. The smell of Rory intensified, as did the smell of Severus. His vision got better, so did his hearing, and as he flexed his paws and twitched his tail he felt more balanced than usual, now on all four. Another glance at Severus made him realize suddenly that the kneazle probably wouldn't appreciate him showing up, especially in place of a boy that Sev usually trusted and tried to guard. Not to mention, he might be freaking out Rory.
The next moment, Al was standing back in human form, fixing his uniform and smoothing down his hair, staring at Rory with nerves all over his face, unsure of what she would say. "Um...I'm an animagus," he said weakly, giving her a small smile.
