Raiden had thought that their lips had touched, but once he had pulled Rowan toward him in a hug she had moved with such abnormal speed that it would have seemed to anyone that had seen them that she had not even been inches from his own body. The only proof that she had been that close to him was the bloody hand prints that remained on his jacket and he didn’t favour that. Without as much as a second thought he waved his hand over his jacket and a quick mutter of a cleaning spell and it was like the blood on his jacket had never been there at all.
He looked to Rowan who was trying to apologise for the whole mishap and at the same time trying to hide her bloody hands from the view of anybody else. “Nothing to apologise for,“ he promised as he pulled on his jacket showing her there was no sign of blood on it, even though he was aware she might be referring to more than just the blood on his jacket. He was certain now that she was what he had thought her to be and there was no way that she could hide it from him now. Not now that he had seen it with his own eyes and had also had the proof of it on his own jacket. He glanced down at her hands and saw them completely healed, but before he could utter a word it seemed that she had a few things to say.
Listening as she threatened him, or promised that there was something out there that was worse than what she was, he merely smirked. It was funny how she thought that she could scare him with those words when his mind was already considering ways as to how he could use this knowledge to his advantage and gain ground in the race to be the best Death Eater and prove his worth. He was certain that Regulus would enjoy having a few of the likes of Rowan and whatever else she considered to be more dangerous than her on his side in this war. It would certainly tilt the balance of this war in the Regulus’ and the Death Eater’s favour.
However at the end of the threat there was an invitation, an invitation to go with her to the Forbidden Forrest. His smirk faded almost immediately. So that was how she sustained herself. He should have figured. He doubted the current headmaster would have allowed her within the corridors of this school if she were a threat to his students. He considered what walking into the Forbidden Forrest alone with the likes of Rowan meant. Was she out to get rid of him? He didn’t consider that likely. She had to know that if he suddenly disappeared somebody would notice. No, it had to be an invitation, perhaps with an attempt to scare him off or to prove her ability to hold the threat. He watched her leave and listened as she asked if he planned on coming.
It wasn’t long before he pulled his clothing straight and ran his hand through his hair and followed after the blonde. There was nothing in the world that would scare Raiden Nott off apart from failure and Raiden couldn’t see any failure in sight.

Rowan turned on her heel, once she saw that Raiden was following. Of course she could see what was going on in his head. If she was trying to rid him of this world. She didn't have the power to get rid of him. It would only draw attention to herself in the worse possible ways. It would make her life miserable and put into fear with the cost of vampire hunters after her. It was already bad enough to be moving every six months with her father because they found them so easily nowadays.
Heading down the stairs, Rowan made sure no one was there as she slipped out the front doors of the school, speed, hardly anyone could match unless they were like her. She ran down the twists and turns of the path that lead to the Forbidden Forest and was waiting for Raiden on a old stump staring into the darkness of the forest. Truly how could she have waited until the end of the party to come out here? There was no possible way to that.
"I lied. I can't make your life a living hell. You already live in one. It was for show for those who were around. I don't need the whole school knowing what I am, the teachers know, but they have to know, apparently."
[/b] Rowan was annoyed, it could be seen in her voice, her face was expressionless as she looked up to Raiden's coming shadow. She wasn't quite herself just yet, she would be when she had her fill. But of course she would have to wait for a while until that could be sustained. She turned on the stump to look at Raiden's dark figure. There were so many things she wanted to know about others, but she didn't have a clue how to go about it. First, she wanted to know how he figured out or knew the signs that she was a vampire. Not very many people would have figured that out. A dead give away was her eyes and how she had them changed, but that was due to her not having fed yet. "How did you figure it out then? Not many care to notice, but I don't mingle with the mudbloods due to my past. I would gladly kill them, but only to feast on them. Get rid of their idiotic families who dive into vampire hunting. Kill innocent people. Others like them. My mother was like them in race, but not blood. She wasn't a threat. And to have them kill her like they did? I can't stand the sight of them."[/b] She was rambling on. Though it would shed light that she was not a full blood-sucking vampire. If Raiden was listening carefully. She didn't share her past with ease. She told of it as if her mother was murdered by an intruder. Not a vampire hunter trying to murder her father. Noises caught her attention in the forest as she looked deep into it, watching and waiting for the perfect time to strike. It was only a matter of time before what she was looking for came out, but she needed time and patience. Something that didn't come easy to her. The girl disappeared before his eyes, but since he knew where she was heading he didn’t mind all that much. He could have kept up with her a little better if he had used his ability to fly, but then that would give away his secret to the rest of the students in the school and the professors might view it as a slight advantage in a quidditch match, which was totally absurd. Raiden hardly needed that ability to be better than the rest of the students who dared to go up against him in quidditch. Practise and a knack for being in the sky made him the threat he was, his ability to fly without a broom just happened to be an added advantage.
It seemed that Rowan had decided to wait for him. Even on seeing her standing on some stump, at least that was what he believed it to be from the distance he was her, he still didn’t hasten his step. He was a few yards off when he heard her direct a few words to him. She had decided to confess to the fact that she couldn’t make his life a living hell, because apparently she believed he already lived in was. That was part true, but Raiden hardly considered being able to snog a girl every now and then hell, even if he had to live within the vicinity of muggle lovers and blood traitors. Then she admitted to the faculty knowing about her, but after just coming to that conclusion it was no surprise.
Raiden arrived at what he could plainly see was an old stump that she happened to be standing on, just as she finished her little speech. It was odd to have her staring at him at the moment with them both knowing what she was now, but he hardly moved under the scrutiny. Then she was off again with a ramble of words. He had to pay close attention to what she said to ensure he noticed any hidden meaning that she might have mixed up in all the ramblings.
He moved slowly around the stump that she had decided to stand upon, before he replied to the question that she had posed in her ramblings. “Well I am not an idiot Rowan. I read extensively and some of what I read isn’t all roses and chocolate frogs. The things that this school likes to enforce upon us.” He would allow her to make of that what she wanted to. He was more interested in deciphering the hidden meaning in what she had said. She had referred to her mother as a witch, of that he was sure, which meant that she was not a full blooded vampire. She was a half-blood. Well at least her blood had not been diluted by a muggle father, instead being bettered by sorts by a vampire father. Besides Half-bloods weren’t that bad, they weren’t as good as pure-bloods, but at least they weren’t mudbloods.
Raiden watched as something seemed to catch the half-vampire’s attention, yet she didn’t move. He figured she was waiting for something. Bored he decided it was his time to say a few things. “Do you plan on doing something sometime soon, because there is a party going on in the Great Hall where there happens to be a lot of girls who wouldn’t mind having a chat or perhaps a tad bit more with the likes of me.” He wanted to see the girl in action. He needed to go to Regulus with the knowledge that a half-vampire would be as good as a real one.

"No. I don't plan on doing something soon. Because that noise was not what I wanted. It was one of those giant spiders that live deep in the forest. Nasty creatures, but not something I would prefer. And I highly doubt you want to get back to check out the other girls. I'm sure most of them would be scared of you once they found out what you're hiding. At least not the ones apart of the same group as you."
[/b] Rowan smiled as she jumped down from the stump, releasing her dress as she landed with perfect balance. She stood in silence as she pinpointed the noise that was making the bushes rattle. It wasn't an animal of the magical world. They would have been too deadly to catch. She usually found a buck or a doe to feed off of to sustain her for a while. Moving with grace and high speeds, she ran into the depths of the forest to take down the doe that had been making the most noise. It didn't take long for her to take the animal down as she made her killing move to make sure blood didn't spurt all over her dress. One of the reasons for waiting until after the dance to do this, but some things just couldn't wait. Some things just could never wait. How she felt careless for letting her guard slip and having Raiden find out what she was. She sat down on the stump as she fixed her attire and hair. Her skin gave a pale pink color to it. The blood warmed her body as it flowed through her veins. Of course she would just become cold once she stopped feasting on blood for a while. Looking to Raiden, she wondered what was going on in his mind. Surely he saw her and how she reacted to the doe. Most of the time she wouldn't have any trouble hunting something down, but than again she wasn't back in Cardiff where the meal was just around them. All she had to do was hunt down a muggle to cure her hunger spell. "Have you killed anyone, Raiden? Or anything? The feeling, just gives off this radiant feeling, to feel the life just slip away. The heartbeat just fades into a memory. It makes the killer feel proud of the kill. To feel alive. To survive. How can someone kill for fun? I mean truly kill for fun to let the body waste away? I'm rambling again. I'm sorry if I bore you. It's too much to keep inside at times. The teachers aren't any help with sharing these thoughts as they disapprove of them. Muggle lovers most of them are. Only one thing muggles and the wizarding world have in common. Some wish to rid the world of the vampire race.
"Terrible feelings go on in the school. The smell of fear on the students when they hear about the Death Eaters making a move. Or an attack on someone. An attack on MUGGLES! Do they not understand what those things do to my father's kind? I would do anything to get rid of the muggles, but only to have them as the source of my feedings. My mother would disapprove, but she would understand my logic. My revenge for her death. I was five when they took her from me. Five years old. I was smart for a five year old. I understood what went on at a time when most don't understand. They had been following us for weeks maybe even months. It wasn't until one night when we came home from a vacation did they attack. My mother tried to defend their advances, but failed. I watched the life of her leave as my father murdered and disabled the bodies bit by bit.
"Why do I ramble? This secret is too much. All I want is someone like myself to be around. Someone I can share everything with. No more hiding this deadly secret that could destroy me and everything I believe in."[/b] She was lying across the stump now staring up at the tops of the trees looking at the stars that peaked through the branches. She felt alone. Truly alone. Rowan had said that she didn’t plan to do anything anytime soon, but after telling him how she believed that there weren’t many girls that would be interested in him if they knew what he was hiding, which made him laugh a little, she jumped from the stump, landing as gracefully as if she had walked off the stump with the aid of a step and disappeared into the Forbidden Forrest where he surmised she found something that she did agree on eating. It wasn’t very long before she was back in his sights making her way back to the stump as she went about cleaning off the blood of whatever animal she had found within the Forrest’s depths. It also didn’t take her very long to start rambling again.
Raiden merely stood back and listened and he was content in his decision not to make his way back to the castle and the ball. Rowan was certainly more entertaining. She started off by asking him a question, a question that struck to the depth and core of who he wanted to be or whatever he was already becoming. ‘Have you killed anyone, Raiden? Or anything,’ where the words she used to pose the question to him and certainly had she posed that question to another student the simple and shortly answered question would be no, of course not. Raiden was however not any other student and he would never be. Death Eater in training, death was something that he had to feel comfortable with. Certainly he had cursing down. He could cast the Cruciatus curse like the best of them. Hell all they needed to do was ask dear Albus Potter how that first curse felt that fell upon him during the last celebration at Hogwarts and he would be able to confirm that. However that was not the question Rowan had posed her and that was not the question that left Raiden lost within his own thoughts, hearing only bits and pieces of what the older girl had to say.
The question stirred in him unanswered questions that he had posed himself over the years. He had always known, from the time he had heard the true story from his grandfather that becoming a Death Eater was what he wanted to do and for a long time that didn’t seem possible. Then Bellatrix rose and gave rebirth to the followers of the dark and Raiden saw his path written before him as clear as any text from one of his school text books. Yet, and he could admit to it, well at least to himself in his own thought, he had a doubt within himself to kill another. Certainly he had practiced the killing curse and had killed before, but it was merely rodents, pests, thing that annoyed him, with those things it seemed to come naturally, but to kill another witch, another wizard, even some dumb mudblood. Raiden couldn’t honestly say that he had done that and if the chance arose he would have no problem doing it and in that alone he knew he was weak.
Pulling himself out of his own thoughts Raiden listened and heard nothing. Rowan had stopped talking. When had she stopped talking? How long had he not been paying attention? The last thing he remembered hearing her say was something to do with dead bodies. He looked around and found rowan now laying on the stump staring toward the sky, though the canopy of the forbidden Forrest only allowed a scattered view. Perhaps rowan could help him understand death better. What was she if not some type of perfect killing machine? Perhaps honesty for the moment would better help him in the end. He took another step closer to the half vampire. She certainly wasn’t about to go and blabber his secrets knowing that he could expose hers.
“I have killed, but only rodents, pests. I have never taken the life of anything else, and I fear I might not be able to.” The words sounded strange coming from his mouth. Raiden admitting a weakness, a weakness that could be the end of his very goal in life, but here he was telling this girl he hardly knew what turmoil her question had brought up within him.
[Sorry for the delayed-ness. I needed to get Raiden mused up.]

only killed rodents? she had to eat those kind of things to keep her strength up. her father was stronger than she was with his diet of humans. she was weak to him, not by age, but by her diet. and to see that raiden had only killed rodents, was sad. she had killed before. humans. when it was during summer break. she would kill muggles when she went feeding with her father because he wouldn't allow her to feed on rodents or anything else she came into contact with.
"raiden. i'm sure you'll just find to kill someone. though you have to be good with what you do, when you kill. i've killed more things than just rodents. i'm not allowed to eat animals when i'm home. my father finds is disgusting, but that was how he was taught to see it as.
"it'll come to you. just be careful. wouldn't want to kill the wrong person."
[/b] rowan stood up from the tree stump, after hearing a small branch break underfoot. it wasn't a tiny branch, but a small one, one that wouldn't normally break underneath an animal. there was no way for rowan to run in the dress she wore. yet there was no way she was going to rip it so she could run. she was unsure what to do. she knew it couldn't exactly be a student since she made sure no one was following them when they left, but an adult. she wasn't quite sure what to expect. she took one moment to stand and come up with a plan. they would be expecting for someone to call out and come near them from the front. so why not come around from behind them? perfect sense. "raiden. i think we should head back to the castle. it's getting late. someone might catch us out here."[/b] her wording was to catch the person offguard. to think they were heading back. rowan walked ahead only to double back through the trees. it didn't take long to figure out where the person was. she could see all the gear they carried. a few stakes, holy water, a crossbow. oh and they were carrying their wand. a witch or wizard as a vampire hunter. how lovely for rowan. she would have to work twice as hard to disarm them. "flipendo!"[/b] rowan shouted the spell as she watched the wizard's wand fly out of his hand as he turned on his heel to face her. rowan held her ground as she stood in front of a tree, her wand at the ready. this was probably the only time she wasn't the calm girl who would just brush things aside. a life or death matter for what she was. the wizard regained his wand, or she never knocked his wand out of his hand. her hand had been shaking when the spell was shouted. "locomotor mortis" rowan felt her legs lock into the position they were in. nearly shaking as she stood there. raiden. where was raiden? she couldn't see him, but she knew he was there. somewhere. "raiden... help me. raiden don't leave me. he's gonna kill me...."[/b] the crossbow was fired, knocking her off her feet as she tried to yell something only to find her wand hand hitting bark as the arrow ran through the palm of her hand. her wand lay near her feet, much too hard for her to grab to save herself. she was scared, she was never scared. never in her life. only ever when there was a vampire hunter around was she ever terrified. she feared for her life. "RAID......."[/b] her voice cut off as the vampire hunter fired another arrow, made for the kill shot, instead of striking her in the abdomen. it went completely through her nailing her into the bark of the tree she stood in front of. it immobilized her there as the vampire hunter made way to take care of raiden as well. rowan was turning into a bloody mess. a blood had already streaked down her arm from where her hand was pierced and now her dress was being stained with the blood pooling out of her abdomen. "raiden. kill......him...."[/b] rowan's voice was soft, but sounded as if she was growing weak. it could have been raiden's chance to kill something other than a rat. everyone would see it as self defense, if they saw the sight of rowan clinging to the arrows keeping her nailed to a tree, looking as if she just came out of a muggle horror movie. rowan's head bobbled as faded in and out of consciousness. This was nothing that Raiden could have ever imagined for this evening. His assumption on how the evening would progress lent more to him entertaining a girl; one he considered adequate to his requirements, in an empty classroom or even his own bed if he were able to sneak her in unnoticed. Never in his wildest imagination had he thought that he would be here in the Forbidden Forest in the company of a half-vampire, who was telling him that he would find something to kill, eventually. Though she did have a warning for him that he might want to be careful about whom he killed.
Be good with what you do. These were a few other words uttered from Rowan’s very own lips. When was Raiden ever not good at what he did? He strove to be the best at everything he did, from his school work to quidditch, from duelling to being a Death Eater. Raiden applied himself one hundred and ten percent to everything he did and never accepted failure. Yes, it would be only natural he would make mistakes, life is full of these things, but he is the type of person who prefers learning from them so as never to make that same mistake again.
Raiden didn’t have long to ponder on Rowan’s words before she stood up from the stump, looking like she was listening to something that he couldn’t here. Of course it was only a thought. All he knew she might just be weird like that and stand up and keep still, staring into the darkness for no apparent reason. It wasn’t like he knew her that long or even at all. Then suddenly she spoke again and she was telling him that perhaps heading back to the castle would be a good idea and she was off without waiting for him. Shrugging, deciding to give up to the insanity that was this whole meeting, he took a step forward to follow behind her, then suddenly he looked up from staring at the ground to see her gone.
It took Raiden a few moments to gain perspective on his current situation when he suddenly heard Rowan shouting the Flipendo spell somewhere behind him in the shroud of trees, followed later by a desperate cry for help and a plea that he would not leave her to her supposed death. It was with immediate effect that he pulled his wand from the inside of his cloak’s pocket, deciding to go by the light of the moon then using Lumos, for fear that it might attract unwanted attention. Rowan had sounded desperate, but he would have preferred if she had not alerted her attackers to his presence, it made helping her all the more difficult.
The smart thing to do would have been to turn around and fly toward the castle as quickly as he could to get some help, but the Death Eater and proud Pureblood within him would not allow Raiden to do that, for fear that it was too similar to his father’s antics and because it was a chance for him to prove his capabilities. Yet even as he stepped closer toward where he had heard Rowan’s screams echo from he knew he was very well putting himself in a situation that he might not be able to get himself out of, or even Rowan. Yet Raiden still trudged forward.
It was as he got closer to the host of trees that he started hearing the noises. He could hear the hushed whispers of people talking, but not wanting to be heard or found out. A few odd noises he could not place and what he thought was the voice of Rowan but couldn’t be sure, because it seemed faint, even perhaps distant. Then suddenly there was a noise he could place and that was the movement of feet upon twigs and dead leaves and seemed to be coming ever nearer. Raiden ducked behind a tree, hoping beyond hope that there was no one nearby that might spot him, because he was in the dark as far as seeing went.
Suddenly there was movement rather near by and Raiden tightened the grasp on his wand. He couldn’t be sure which side of him the noise had originated from. Damn the Forbidden Forest could be a right nuisance. Deciding having his eyes open served no purpose since he couldn’t see either way he attempted closing them to force his ears to listen and guide him. At first he thought he was being dumb, especially when he kept opening his eyes at every sound, but later he kept them closed and forced himself to concentrate. Just as he did that he heard a sound to the left of him, but just as that happened something struck him in the knee causing excruciating pain. It felt like a knife through his heart, not that that had ever occurred to him, yet he held in the scream.
Although all his sense were screaming for him to shout out in pain it seemed his brain had shot into full gear, and he knew screaming would only alert the person of his exact location, instead he used the opportunity to point his wand in the direction he had located the person in and shot a stunning curse in that direction. Raiden didn’t know if it hit anything, but he was tired of hiding. “Lumos,” he muttered and the tip of his wand lightened and directly after he stepped forward looking down at his leg to see an arrow piercing straight through his left knee. Looking around him he saw nobody and quickly used his wand muttering a few spell over the injury to ensure he would not loose too much blood. “I am Raiden Nott,” he muttered to himself, “Death Eater, Pureblood, Heir to the Nott Estate, I will not back down.” Then he looked toward the area he had thought he had heard Rowan’s voice come from. “Rowan if you can hear me, shout, shout as loud as you can.” This he did not mutter inaudibly, this Raiden shouted at the top of his voice, it was time to prove his capabilities to himself.

Rowan's thoughts were everywhere; she was out of it completely. She kept thinking she was somewhere else, besides the forbidden forest caught up against a tree with arrows pinning her to it, to keep her from killing the man who had done this to her. She needed to do something to help Raiden. She couldn’t let him go on if he was injured. She needed to help him, get something to him to know she was still alive and fighting for her life. She heard him shout her name, when she was there awake between one of her few episodes of falling out of the world. “Raiden! Do something! It hurts… I can’t free myself. Please help me, Raiden… please.”
[/b] she felt out of it once more as she slumped against the tree. She was growing weak with every move she made, her attention span was limited and she was awake for short bursts at a time. She had been out of it when the arrows were pulled out of her hands, but she was not in the hands of someone she trusted. More like someone that wanted to kill her or use her for something far greater. For the vampire hunter, she was very light in weight and quite out of it, so it would be easy to transport her if he needed to make his escape before he himself got killed by the Slytherin trying to save the Ravenclaw student. The man was quite skilled in charms and hexes and was throwing them in Raiden’s direction as he carried Rowan over his shoulder. Light as a pillow, she was. To not give himself away, the hunter moved through the dark clumsily. There was no way he could use his wand to light the path. He had to go blind to get out with the half vampire teenager on his shoulder. Yet his plan of escape was failing as he tripped over the roots of a tree and fell face first, dropping Rowan off to the side as she rolled into the grass of the forest. Knowing he had no chance of getting away with her this time, he picked himself up and bolted before the Slytherin could find him. Rowan’s blonde hair stuck to her blood stained face as the wounds she received healed very little. Blood still pooled out from her wounds keeping her down and in pain. Her eyes opened to see the stars peak through the treetops wondering where she was. There had to be someone out there who could help her. “Raiden… I’m sorry… I shouldn’t have brought you out here. I’ll take the blame if the professors want to put blame to someone…” Rowan was mumbling, not knowing how far away Raiden was from her. She thought she was close to him, but she was quite farther away from him than where she was on the tree. She hadn’t been that far from him when she was pinned to the tree, but since it had been so dark in the forest, it was so hard to tell where anything was. She could make out a few things, but there was a lot of things she was confused about. How far away from the castle were they? Had someone heard their screams? Was someone coming to rescue them? Rowan was scared out here like this. She needed closure that she wasn’t going to die out here. She wanted to have that closure of knowing she was safe and sound. Would Raiden think differently of her after this? Would he blame her for getting attacked? She didn’t want to be the one who got attacked by the other students for what she was. It just wouldn’t seem fair that they would do that to someone who kept themselves. She needed to know that he wouldn’t think of her as someone who was attracted to the dangerous life of running away. Because that was what she did. She ran away from the trouble following her because that was all she knew of vampire hunters. They wanted her dead and she wanted to stay alive. She couldn’t pull herself up to look around the forest for Raiden. She already regretted coming out here. Wasting their time from the ball. She didn’t want to feel like she was missing from the ball, but the fact that she hardly cared for anyone there, she didn’t seem to be bothered much. “I’m so sorry for dragging you into this… Don’t leave me out here. The darkness is my place, but not alone and dying…”[/b] she was whispering to herself as she kept looking for someone to come over and help her up to the castle. Her head was tilted to look to see if someone was coming or if Raiden had found her yet. She was scared out here. Her dress was ruined by now, covered in the dark red color of blood. She was quite a sight to see if anyone saw her, if she ever made her way up to the castle. Her only fear was dying out here alone… She didn’t want that. Not ever.
