It all happened so quick that Al was confused for a moment. One second he was bounding down the steps, talking to Rory, and the next she was running past him. It took him two seconds to realize that he had just been challenged to a race down to the pitch...and another three seconds for him to get moving.
"Hey!" he called after her with a laugh as he chased her, still behind but catching up with ever few strides. He manauvered through a few shortcuts, different than the ones that Rory used and yet the two of them stayed the same way through the whole race. He shook his head as he began to pound his way down the main stairs, and watched with amusement as Rory glanced back at him. But then suddenly, she let out a yelp of pain and his eyes widened. He watched as she twisted and then fell onto her butt.
"Rory?!" he exclaimed, forcing himself to go faster until he skidded to a messy stop next to her. She was holding her ankle weird and was hissing in pain, and he looked towards where she had slipped, his eyes zooming in on a wrapped candy. Oh of course, Acid Pops--he had always hated those dang things, they weren't even good tasting.
"Are you okay? Well of course your not okay, or you wouldn't be making a pained face," Al said quickly, before closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. Forcing himself to look at her again, trying to calm the panic that arrisen at her sound of pain, he bent to examine her ankle. "Hospital wing, I'm thinking Rore."
After a moment he crouched to get a closer work, reaching out to take her leg in his left hand. He dropped his brom and then used his right hand to gently take tap her ankle, to see if it hurt.

Damn well right it bloody hurt! But at Al's mention of the hospital wing she shook her head vehemently.
"It's just a twisted ankle.. I don't have to be able to walk to fly. And besides.. every time I end up there I get some sludge or another forced down my throat... "
She made a face and a gagging sound.
" no thanks.."
Using Al's shoulder for support without giving the action a second thought, she pushed herself to an upright position, balancing on her remaining good foot. her eyes had gone a deep blue at the pain and either she didn't notice, or couldn't be bothered to will them back to their regular hue. gaining her balance she she hobbled to the doors and out into the sunlight. She had to stop at the top of the steps though, her brow wrinkling in a stubborn pout as she tried to decided which would be easier, getting down the steps to the soft grass, or just getting on her broom right here and risking falling off on the stone and looking like a clumsy git in front of Al... not that she hadn't been clumsy in front of him countless times before, and it wasn't like she wasn't already being a bit of a stubborn git.. so why she was even concerned about it she really couldn't say.

His friend was a total, stubborn git, and you would think that he would be used to it by now, but she still amazed him. He stared at her, his face showing total disbelief as she refused the hospital wing and used his shoulder to push herself up. He debated just grabbing her around the waist right then and carrying her to the hospital wing, but he was slightly afraid as to what she would do to him if he tried.
He watched helplessly as she hobbled away from him and went outside, only to stop on the steps. Running a hand through his hair, he gave up to his first idea. There was no way that he was going to just let her try and get around all day with a twisted ankle. She was going to the hospital wing whether she liked it or not.
"Rory," he said finally, following after her to where she was standing on the top of the steps. He stopped next to her and shook his head after a moment, leaning his broom against the wall. "You are going to the hospital wing." Before she could do anything or say anything, her leaned down a bit to swipe out her legs, holding her back with one hand and her legs underneath her knees with the other.
"Hospital. Wing." Smirking down at her, he began to quickly walk back inside, forgeting his own broom in his haste to try and help his best friend.

Shock kept her from any rebellious moves as Al swept her up in his arms. Who the name of Merlin did he think he was?? She was NOT going to the bloody hospital wing! Mad as a jinxed bludger she pummeled his chest with her fists, though in this particular position it wasn't like she could get the leverage to hit very hard. As far as trying to struggle out of his grasp, that would most likely make him drop her and if her ankle were injured anymore, like broke or something who knew how long the healer would hold her there, healers at this school had a long history of keeping students in the wing far beyond the healing of there injuries. Physical protest thwarted, she glared at Al with eyes that had gone ruby..
" Albus Potter you put me down right now! I DO NOT.. want to go to the Hospital wing! "
Simmering in anger she gave up yelling at him as it became obvious from his smirk that he had no intention of letting her down. folding her arms over her chest she pouted and made it a point to allow all one hundred and twenty seven pounds of her weight hang as dead and heavy in his arms as possible.

Nobody would know it, and he didn't plan on telling anybody either, but Al lifted weights. He did it in his spare time, and he was proud to say that he could now bench 180 pounds. So carrying Rory wasn't much of a problem to him--but carrying her while she was pounding on his chest was making carrying her harder than he thought. He made sure to keep his grip on her tight, when she suddenly yelled at him. He winced, and looked down at her with a slight frown, but didn't say anything.
As she let her weight just hang in his arms, he shook his head slightly and continued up the steps as if she weighed nothing at all. He looked past her so that he could see his feet as he climbed, before letting his focus land back on her. He sighed as he saw her red eyes, and could tell that she was seriously peeved at him. He hated it when Rory was mad at him -- found it worse than when family was mad at him.
"Look...Rory, I know you don't want to go," he said softly, residing himself to stare her in the eyes, hoping that he didn't trip. "I'm sorry that I'm forcing you to go. They keep you an insane amount of time, I know that. But I swear I'll do what I can to get you in and get you out. I just don't want you to get even more hurt, do you know how bloody bad I would feel?"
He pressed his lips together at the thought and continued to look her in the eyes. "I left my broom back there for you, doesn't that tell you anything?"

Her glare faltered as he spoke to her, especially when he mentioned leaving his broom behind. Droping her gaze from his she focused on his chest instead, hoping he wouldn't see the fading of the fire in her eyes, they still smoldered, though more of a dull crimson now than the bright ruby they had been. She tought on his words for a few moments but in the end still turned her head away, her arms still crossed. She didn't shout at him again but with a temper that didn't die and easy death her protest still came out as a peeved mutter..
" I still don't want to go... "
Guilt chewed at her insides, Al had to be the nicest guy in the entire bloody school and he was 'her' best friend. She should be grateful that he cared enough to make her go. Yet all she could bring herself to focus on was the fact that she didn't want to, and he wasn't giving her a choice in the matter. As the Hospital wing doors came into view she huffed an irritated breath, well, no hope for it now, she thought and wondered what decidedly disgusting potion or elixir awaited her on the other side.

Al looked up at the double doors to the Hospital Wing, and then back down at his best friend, who was still looking irritated and angry at him. He came to a stop, letting his eyes try and find hers, but her head was turned away and she was refusing to look at him. He let out a sigh, making it sound irritated. He wasn't really angry, but if he wanted this to end...he had to be. He had to make himself at least seem to be angry at his best friend.
"Fine!" he practically shouted, moving over to the wall. He slowly lowered Rory down, making sure she was braced by the wall before he took a step back and crossed his own arms, staring down at her. "You don't want to go to the hospital wing. I'm not going to force you. Just look me in the eye right now, Rory, and tell me that you want me to carry you all the way back down to the pitch and have you walk around in pain for the rest of the day, and I'll do it."
He closed his eyes and then reopened them slowly, before he uncrossed his arms and shoved his hands deep into his pocket. "I'm your friend Rory--hopefully your best friend. Either way, I know that you're my best friend, and I just don't want you to end up doing something worse to your ankle. Won't you just let me go take you into the hospital wing, and get you fixed up?" He quickly changed his expression from one of anger to one of pleading, practically a puppy dog pout.
Rory may be able to change he appearance, but Al could change hix expressions easier than anybody he knew. Could go from anger to a puppy dog pout in not time flat, like he had just demonstrated. He mentally smirked, wondering if this whole thing was going to blow up in his face and she was going to become even more peeved at him, or if she would see reason and just let herself get fixed up.

Surprised as Al relented and with a shout sat her down near the wall, she looked at him long enough to take in his folded arms and the anger expression on his face. She dropped her gaze as he laid into her. I'm your friend Rory--hopefully your best friend. Either way, I know that you're my best friend.. She flinched and her frown deepened at that. How could he doubt what his friendship meant to her? Of course he was her 'best' friend who else could bloody well put up with her enough to hold that position? Thinking back over the mornings happening she sighed with guilt, with the way she'd been acting this morning she was lucky he still care enough to even try and make her come here. Grimacing she fought with herself. But she really, REALLY, didn't want to go... Planing to attempt to calmly explain to him that she didn't really think she needed any help with it, that it would heal on its own, that she was glad he cared and all but she would be ok without going in there, she lifted her gaze to meet his. What fiery sparks were left in her eyes died away as she was suddenly faced with not the rightfully angry boy she had been listening to the last bit, but instead that puppy faced pout that had often been her downfall over the past five years. He just 'had' to pull that card didn't he?
Pulling her gaze away with a rather defeated look she all but wined...ok, maybe it did actually come out as wineing...
" Aww!!.. Comon Al! .. That's not fair and you know it..."
Sighing she pushed she pushed off from the wall and hobbled with stubborn determination towards the doors. "Whatever, fine! But I'm going in on my own feet, ... if you go toting me in there like some helpless twit they'll never let me out'a this place!"

It was easy for Al to tell when he had won. He could tell that he was in the clear as soon as she looked away from his puppy dog pout, the look of defeat imminent on her face. It was hard, but he kept the smirk that was fighting it's way to the surface off of his face as Rory whined about him not being fair. No, this probably wasn't fair, considering almost nobody won against these things. But if it got Rory into the hospital wing so that she didn't hurt herself even more than she was, then he didn't care how unfair he was being.
She pushed herself away from the wall after a moment and began to hobble towards the doors. His face now lit up in a winning smile as he walked after her, keeping pace right beside her. He was practically bouncing with happiness that she was actually going in, so after a moment he reached down and envoloped her in a hug, picking her off of her feet and spinning her around once, before setting her back down. His stomach swooped with the happy feeling (or so he thought), and so he pulled back, still grinning.
"I swear, I'll talk to the healer and get you out of there as fast as posible," he promised, placing his right hand over his heart and running his left hand through his hair. "If you're in there for any longer than....an hour, then my name isn't Albus Severus Potter."
He moved his right hand down to her shoulder to make sure she was steady again, before he moved towards the double doors once more. He was still grinning, but at least he wasn't bouncing with victory like a minute before.

Rory's eyes bugged as Al caught hold of her and swirled her around in happiness. Normally that hyper side of him would have her laughing. As it was when her feet touched the floor again she tottered for a second and couldn't help feeling annoyed that he'd thrown her off balance..
" Yeah.. that helped Al.."
The words were no sooner out of her mouth than his hand came to her shoulder to steady her. Apparently he hadn't done it without keeping in mind she'd be short on balance after the fact. That was Al though wasn't it?.. He always seem do do the right thing without seeming to give much thought at all to what he was doing. A warmth of affection spread from somewhere inside her to touch the warmth she could feel from his steadying hand on her shoulder, an affection that tugged at her mouth and drug a half grin out of her.
"I swear, I'll talk to the healer and get you out of there as fast as possible," he promised, placing his right hand over his heart and running his left hand through his hair. "If you're in there for any longer than....an hour, then my name isn't Albus Severus Potter." Turning her eyes on him she smirked..
"If I'm in here more than an hour I'll be saving some of whatever ville thing it is they plan to feed me and slipping in your dinner for talking me into going in the first place."
Not wanting him to think she was actually serious,(he knew her well enough to know that she was more than capable of such an act if put in a bad enough mood) she reached up to ruffle his hair in friendly affection. The thing is when a guy is several inches taller than you, and your balance is lacking anyway, fast and playful movements can be a recipe for disaster. To keep her balance she shifted her weight, a bit to much, as she messed his hair and put unwelcome pressure on her ankle. Set off balance by the new dose of pain, she fell forward against his chest. Her eyes for the moment were squinted shut as all she could bring herself do do for the moment was lean against him and pray for the throbbing to subside again.
