DRACO LUCIUS MALFOYof lilies and roses It made Draco feel slightly better to be home, away from the healers and even more reporters trying to find out what had happened. The story was simple, a muggle attack. That’s what everyone thought had happened and Draco was sure it was what he wanted people to believe. He was so like his mother, dangerous. Just like Bellatrix had been before Azkaban. Draco stood up slowly, his body still sore from the attack and made his way to the library. The house was as quite as ever. Something that wasn’t new since his children had gone and Bellatrix had passed. Not even the Death Eaters came to visit as much. Something that Draco was actually thankful for.
Most of them didn’t trust him or even liked him, feeling which were mutual. He knew he was a coward, he would happily save his own skin over someone else(other than that of his children or wife). But he wasn’t a fool. He wasn’t going to betray Regulus when he had the power to kill or hurt those he loved the most and he knew that Regulus was aware of that. Probably the reason why Draco had been chosen and not just the man’s mutual hate of him. He wished he could at least tell Astoria what had happened. She was after all, the only person eh could still trust, his children gone and all that. It was true that they were slightly closer now. But he knew they hadn’t forgiven him just yet. But giving her than information was too risky. The more people that knew it, then the risk of it getting out was greater.
If Regulus knew he had informed someone else he could easily see it as a danger. It was overall better for him to keep that information to himself. Draco knew that Astoria wouldn’t like that, but in the end it was for their own safety. He took a seat near one of the large windows. This one gave a perfect view of the now orange lived gardens. Summer was almost completely gone now, fall was quickly passing and soon winter would be knocking at their doors. As a child he had loved the coming of winter, hanging with his so called friends in the frozen grounds of Hogwarts. Later he would join his children in their games. But after they had moved to Hogwarts there wasn’t really much to do during the season.
Draco smiled, loosing himself in the old memories of his lovely children. So much had changed since then. He had seen Scorpius, now an adult. S0o much braver than he had been, had it not been for his treason he was sure his father Lucius would have been proud of the grandson he had been given. He couldn’t forget his daughter, growing into a beautiful woman. He couldn’t help but feel the father jealousy of one day someone taking her away to form her own family. He hoped that after all this was done an dover and he survived, he turned out to be a better grandfather than he had been a father.
He hardly noticed the small house elf that moved inside, carrying with him Draco’s afternoon tea. They were already used to Draco ignoring them and everyone else that came, Sometimes he would simply not in agreement. But other than a few words he hardly spoke out loud with any of the visitors and even his own wife. There was that silly small fear that if he began to talk he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from saying everything. It was a foolish fear but Draco wasn’t in control if himself just yet. It was better for Astoria to be angry at him because of his silence, than dead because of his inability to keep his mouth shot. He wished his mother Narcissa was around, she had always managed to make Draco feel better. Even with a simple kiss and small comforting words. He wished even more for his children to be around.

Prometheus had been over since dawn going over all the same things the aurors had with Draco and Astoria during his stay at Mungos. She had considered her cousin a brother to her, considering he was one of the last ones that could track her children undetected. It wasn’t necessarily Scorpius who could easily detect what was going on, but in fact Alectrona who was incredibly observant. Prometheus was the son of one of Astoria’s dear uncles and a french veela, so in turn his instruction at the Beauxbatons school was expected. And this education caused him to pick up the french that Astoria had worked on for purposes of her own entertainment. So whenever they talked french would fill the air of any room, especially the one that she and he were in out in the garden.
Her cousin was among the several relatives that came to talk to her about the subject of her husband’s attack. This was a rather touchy subject for Astoria but none the less something she knew would need discussion. None the less, her dear cousin had eased into the issue, only to cause her to reply in a hushed voice. They were both out in the garden, but for some reason she felt if she raised her voice she would disturb her husband’s silent presence. Especially since it was the subject of loosing the occasional family protection patrols considering there was already two on her children, she was pushing the limit at three. This fact was something she knew Prometheus would work into, “Astoria come now, you can’t expect the family to help with protection without getting a full statement.” This was entirely true, protection in either side of the family came at a heavy price despite being a member of the family. His words in native french, soothing and business like at the same time.
Checking her golden watch that Draco had bought as a present for her, she glanced to the house and motioned for Prometheus to follow her back to the house as she spoke in hurried french. Trying to explain her thought process as she moved quickly, “Now some buildings are fully covered correct? No matter what the situation?” Astoria smiled beautifully, “It’s simple,” she said while still speaking in french, “We take a vacation.” Excited while she moved forward into the house, although not noticing that she nearly knocked over a house elf carrying tea. However her cousin did, catching the little elf before it fell and allowing it to continue on its way. This was right before he continued after his cousin, without hardly blinking. Astoria walking with her high heeled white boots, jeans and green sweater, much alike the ones she would wear to games during her school days.
Going past an open room and walking into her office she began sorting through the paperwork, right as Prometheus stood against the door frame smiling the entire time. Standing with dark hair, a characteristic from his veela mother and certainly not from the light haired pure blood family, thrown over with one flick of his hand, he had a small smile on his face. Not wanting to halt this joyful sorting his face changed a little when she stood up and looked around. “Damn,” she swore in her native french as her cousin walked forward and put a hand on her shoulder, smiling only slightly.
“You passed right by your husband without realizing it, forget finding the papers and spend a little time with him.” Only that little time that her cousin suggested was something that Astoria honestly had tried to avoid. She wasn’t really all that fond of her husband’s attitude of keeping the silence, and yet she realized the papers would probably be somewhere in there. The statement that the family vacation home would always be a safe house. She nodded and bid him farewell as he dissipated out of her study, one of the few places in the house that authorized wands could go from. Walking slowly into the next room she suddenly felt the awkward nature of being in the same room, trying to keep busy with buffing up the house’s protection spells. There was only so much she could do, it was bad enough some birds kept dying because they flew to close to the windows.
Trying to start a conversation was the hardest thing, but with the exhaustion of fluttering around trying to handle family affairs, all she could think to do was decide whether she would go sit obediently by his side. Folding her arms and leaning on the door frame, just as her cousin did in the next room, she had decided just sitting would show she approved of this silence. Which was hardly the case, she simply stood while she soon sighed, “Draco, I know your intent on being silent but do you mind conjuring some sort of big arrow towards the deed information? I think I filed it in here instead of the other room, I kind of need it. The deed to the Yaxley summer home preferably, theirs is up in the mountains, I’m rather fond of it.” Sighing for a moment while she moved to stand up straight, “Or just the general deed to homes would be helpful to.” Before anything had been conjured realizing that he probably knew less than she did about family affairs. Astoria alone owned a portion of basically anything to do with her aunts side of the family argument, considering she had so many connections to the death eater agents. Silently she herself had wondered whether or not he noticed the watch she wore on her wrist, after all it was a present he gave to her. Notes: I decided to take a different approach on her attitude about things, I realized that she would be so busy with the politics of the whole thing it would take a conversation before she would want to trick Draco into saying anything. He would have met her cousin before, not all her family members are just now coming out of the woodworks. Whether he likes Prometheus is entirely up to you, he doesn't have any reason to hate him because he wouldn't know entirely what the boys blood status even was. Either way she's going to be more herself next post. AND HERE'S AN OUTFIT

DRACO LUCIUS MALFOYof lilies and roses Draco turned around to see the small house elf disappear through the door. He inhaled picking the small cup and taking a small sip, he welcomed the hot liquid. The room itself was war, enough, but the familiarity of the drink reminded him of better times. His reflection in the beverage looked back at almost sadly. He had tried to please Lucius so hard, the Voldemort, Bellatrix and everyone else. Yet the people that had mattered, his children and wife he had failed at pleasing them. Once the Malfoy name had been respected admired even and now it was just a joke. The reflection frowned before he placed the white porcelain back down after finishing the drink. He was tired of looking at that pathetic reflection. He was a coward, but he wasn’t weak.
He had allowed Regulus to do as he pleased because he didn’t want all of the Death Eaters on his tail nor that of his family. That had been the main reason why his wand had stayed behind as he went down to meet the dark haired demon. But he knew that after years of training he was more than capable of putting up a fight if he wanted. He just preferred to keep things safe, even if that hadn’t helped him much lately. He pulled his wand out, an exact replica of his first one. He wondered if Potter still held his wand or had it been disposed of somewhere through the years. Whatever had happened he was at least sure that it probably had met a better fate than his father’s wand. Draco smiled slightly at that, his attention back to the golden gardens.
He hardly noticed more movement in the room. He knew there was a visitor in the house, one of Astoria’s own relatives. There had been a few of them visiting and like with everyone else he tried to ignore them. It wasn’t like Draco disliked them. He just didn’t want to answer any questions. He didn’t want to see people’s pity in the eyes. He was Draco Malfoy, coming from two powerful lines. The Blacks and the Malfoys, the last thing he needed was people’s pity. They weren’t going to keep Regulus away from his family. Their pity would solve nothing and thus it was useless to him. Thought he knew he wouldn’t be able to avoid them forever. Soon his distant relatives would too come to see him. It would be near impossible for him to escape forever. But he would enjoy the time of peace he still had.
He jumped slight when his wife’s voice came. Regaining his composure soon after, even if his face still looked slightly flushed. He combed his hair back with his hand. He needed a haircut, all that time in the hospital had really affected him. It wasn’t like he kept it too short, but it was usually shorted than what it was then. He ran his hand down his suit before looking at Astoria with slight interest. The deeds? Why would Astoria even need that for? It was true that he hadn’t really paid much attention to what went on the house. Could be that something was wrong or that his wife was up to something. He had begun to wonder why she was acting so understanding, his silence would have driven anyone else to desperation.
“May I ask why you need them?” His voice sounded strange to his ears after the lack of use. Draco had always spoken so much that this state of quietness even scared him a little bit. He sighted, the interest on the deeds quickly fading. There was so much running though his mind that it looked like such a small and unimportant thing in comparison. He flickered his wand murmuring something. There was a flash of red and one of the paintings in the room opened, the man in it waking up from his afternoon sleep. He murmured a few curses before returning to it. Good old Grandfather Abraxas. He thought about asking about the guest. He hated acting so cold towards his wife, even if he believed it was for her own good.
“Is Prometheus gone or is he staying for supper.” Maybe he would even dare and join them for it. It had been a while since he had eaten outside this room or his own chambers.

Astoria felt rather guilty for scaring her husband as she did but there wasn’t any alternative to getting his attention. She figured it would be better then pouncing onto his back from behind like she would do when they were first dating. However she used to always announce herself with a few giggles then, back when they were just a bit carefree, and she was in less need of the families protection. That was however when she came back to the present, she was standing at the door frame, and needed to get ahold of those deeds. At his question she rose an eyebrow, slowly feeling a little bit of comfort from even hearing a bit of his unsure vocalization, “My dear you can always ask.” Taking a justified vocal jab in his direction, although she right away regretted doing so but had not shown it on her face. Simply keeping the same expression while she asked for even the most general files. Glad to see that they had been kept safe in a portrait, she must have asked him to put them somewhere years before.
Shortly a small smirk came to her face when the old man in the portrait was disturbed, she rather enjoyed annoying the elderly men in the portraits as a joke. And was glad for once there was a reason to annoy this one, and was glad to see the deeds to the houses. Approaching the papers, and kneeling for a moment flicking through them, not fully paying attention to what sort of expression must have been on her husband’s face. Standing for a moment once she found the paper she read through each of the printed script, trying to multi task reading while she shook her head, only half paying attention to what she was saying.
As a result her words were rather unsure and displaced, almost dripping with a strange french accent instead of the english one used as she first entered the room. Shaking her head while she spoke this, “He’s gone,” Astoria paused for a moment realizing she shouldn’t sound so despondent, although visits from her family members was the only chance to speak to another human being. Not at all noticing at all she had randomly brought her french accent as she continued, “he needed to leave, it was running into his scheduled time, he was late to be on patrol.” When in all truth it was simply so she could be in the same room as Draco uninterrupted, although she didn’t want to admit that even her dear cousin would want to influence her as he just did.
In all truth she had always viewed Prometheus, as a younger brother, his flamboyant personality is sort of what had come as a result of their close relationship. But in all truth he was just as manipulative as the next Greengrass relative of this family. She had read through the deed to that house and dropped back down on her knees, unaffected by the impact as she started to shuffle through the other documents. Checking through each deed until the very last one mentioning this house, it didn’t take her long to realize that she wasn’t at all covered or justified by taking the said vacation, they would be no less protected.
Sure, her family wasn’t enough to keep Regulus away, at any moment he could kill the head of their household. But the protection was truly their only line of defense and it was something they valued more than anything. Why they did so was completely unknown to even the family itself but as Astoria checked through she realized that there was more trouble coming from the fact her husband was so silent than anything else, he would need to break this lack of speaking a bit more. Just so she could know what happened, muggles are known to be a sort of threat that a wizard should be able to fight of and therefore does not need any extra protection. But Astoria early on guessed it had to be something deeper, she for the life of herself had no idea what on earth it could possibly be. And he for some reason was being so incredibly cold, it couldn’t possibly have been her fault, those who would seek to hurt her husband would have boasted about it if they succeeded. This for the first time in weeks had been her realization that she was more irritated than she realized he wasn’t saying anything.
Staring rather solemnly over the paper she had she folded it and placed it in her back pocket of her form fitting jeans. Trying not to make her next moves to quick, so he wouldn’t catch on right away. Approaching him she smiled slightly as she positioned herself next to him where he was sitting, turning just enough so she could face him slightly. Her hand slowly following the right side of his suit, raising her eyebrow, “Ever try jeans and a t-shirt?” She asked curiously, she had grown accustomed to him not answering. Smirking slightly before she then shrugged, "Not that I mind." Astoria said with complete honesty, she still found her husband attractive, the tone in her voice made that incredibly obvious.
