------------------------------------------------------ Even if Regulus Lestrange hadn’t informed Scorpius about his father state, he would have learned about it in the Daily Prophet. The Wizard community by then already knew about the attack. Scorpius had stayed faithfully by his father side for must of the day, when night had fallen under the healers orders he was asked to go home. He needed the rest, food and then he would be able to come back during the morning. Scorpius hadn’t slept much that night anyway. His thoughts were on his father, his mother and his little sister. Even before the sun was fully out he was up, washed and dressed to go. Breakfast was quiet, something rare for the Potter home and then he was off to St. Mungo’s.
He’d been in St. Mungo’s since then, it was already past midday. Scorpius knew that soon enough someone would come and tell him to get something to eat. Before this happened he went to do it, for the first time since he’d learned about his father he was hungry. He looked at his dad one more time before leaving, his mother had gone back home. Probably to take care of his sister, she’ll come back later. Scorpius hadn’t spoken to her much even thought he was spending most of his time there. It was strange, to see his mom and dad after over eight months of knowing nothing about them. By the look of surprise Scorpius knew that he hadn’t been expected to actually come.
That had only caused him to feel guilty, he’d turned his back on the family. Scorpius knew that he reasoning was good, it was something that needed to be done. But in the eyes of others they were the ones who had given him everything and he’d gone to another family. No thanks, no goodbye. Some of the Weasleys and Potters had visited, but they’d come for him. Scorpius wasn’t going to fool himself on that, they weren’t here for the man that had caused so much damage to them. The man who had stood in the tower the day Dumbledore had died, the one who had disarmed him(Draco had told Scorpius himself about that day). Some family friends also came to visit, he recognized some Death Eaters.
They looked at Scorpius with disgust, knowing of his betrayal. He tried not to pay them much attention, it was easy since they weren’t paying him much. But for the most part he was alone, this was something that he wanted to do alone. No matter how much his new friends wanted to help him, they couldn’t feel sympathy for his father. Whatever they said wouldn’t feel real to Scorpius, no matter how much they wanted to make him feel better. For a moment he thought about talking to Albus, but was afraid that he would go to his father for help. Harry Potter was a great man, there was little doubt about that. But this was a problem he wouldn’t be able to solve. Then there was his sister, but he wasn’t sure if she would understand. She was too young, suffering hadn’t touched her. She herself would need comprehension more than he needed it.
The Visitors’ Tea Room was busy at this hours, family and friends were talking and eating. It wasn’t hard for Scorpius to blend into a corner with his tea and food. He made sure to inform the healers bellow of his location if anyone came to visit his father and wanted to speak to him. He doubted anyone would, but if any of his friends came then they would be able to find him. The tea was war and sweet. Since he could remember he loved pouring large amounts of honey into it. Pleaded with the house elves to pour more against his mothers wished. He’d taken it before and after sections with Bellatrix, when he was too tired to do much else but sit down with a cup of warm tea.
Bellatrix had worked hard on Scorpius, as much as with her own sisters. When he asked his mom the reason, she had explained that Narcissa was Bella’s favorite sister. She wanted her grandson to be a great dueler, an even better Death Eater. Scorpius thought about his grandmother Narcissa and his grandfather Lucius. They had visited their son during the times Scorpius hadn’t been around. Scorpius was glad for that, facing Lucius wasn’t something he looked forward to. The only person he feared more than Bellatrix Lestrange was Lucius Malfoy.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The news of the attack on Draco Malfoy had reached the ears of almost all pureblood families shortly after his admittence to St Mungos, but it hardly came as a surprise to Raiden Nott. However when his mother entered his room in quite a state to inform him about the condition of Mr Malfoy, Raiden had played his role well. He had been shocked, outraged and had extended his concern over the Malfoy family. His mother had assured him that they were ok and that both she and her father were on their way to look in on them, but preferred that he stayed at home for the moment, her motherly concern that the situation might affect him too much. No one would ever has suspected that he had known almost as much detail of the attack as the person who had attacked the man himself, which was being played off as a muggle attack. No, no one would ever suggest that his mother advising him of the situation meant he would soon have to put his best foot forward to ensure that his Dark Lord’s plan came to realization.
Raiden had waited until the morning to send his letter to Scorpius. It had taken a little while to compose. The problem being, that every time he came to a certain point in the letter, he felt himself gagging on the fact that the plan was to bring Scorpius back into the fold. Yes, it was dangerous to have the little tattle tale on the opposing side, but the lengths that they were going to, annoyed Raiden ever so slightly. It wasn’t that Raiden didn’t understand the whole scheme behind it, because he did. The problem was that Scorpius had betrayed not only his family and aunt [then Dark Lady], but he had turned his back on their friendship and stabbed Raiden in the back. Scorpius was one of the few people that Raiden had given his complete trust to and Scorpius had betrayed it and to gain the trust of Raiden is not something easily earned, he so readily guards himself against betrayal and deceit, by ensuring those he allows close to him are worthy and Scorpius threw it away like a used piece of parchment.
Yet, none of that mattered in the end. In the end that was the way his Dark Lord wanted it and Raiden, unlike Scorpius, was someone who would never betray another he had given his devotion and loyalty to. So as expected the letter had been sent and the morning after the attack Raiden awoke at around eight in the morning and ate breakfast with the family. A rather quiet breakfast besides the moment he interrupted the silence to explain that he would be visiting St Mungo’s, because it was the respectible thing to do and explaining that he wanted to see if Scorpius was there and ensure him that he would be there for him whatever the situation between them [Raiden’s mother aware of the situation between Scorpius and himself]. After another lengthy moment of silence Raiden’s mother said that it would be the right thing to do and his father merely nodded his head in agreement.
Not planning to go to the hospital until sometime after midday, Raiden read through a few books that his Dark Lord had suggested he take a gander at. All the books that he had read so far had proved to be very enlightening and also a very good read. As he read Raiden smiled. He was content, and it was real contentment. So far his life was perfect, besides being without a best friend, not there was a real need for one. The only use being someone you could confide in. Raiden could confide in himself if push came to shove. It didn’t matter. The point was he was achieving his goals. He had wanted to be a Death Eater ever since his grandfather had told him about the days of old and he had achieved that goal and now he was even on the inner circle of the Death Eaters. Well informed about almost all things, the perfect life. After a few hours of reading, Raiden placed the books away and hid them with magic, dark magic, something he was getting rather good at. He then grabbed his cloak and made his way out of the mansion and apparated to St Mungo’s once he was on the doorstep of the mansion.
Appearing before the red-brick department store, Raiden walked through the window and found himself in the reception area of the wizarding hospital. He stopped a healer hurrying along who looked up at him clearly annoyed, though he could have cared less and asked her where he could find Draco Malfoy. She informed him that healers were busy with Mr Malfoy at the moment, but that his son was sitting in the Tea Room. Nodding and extending his thanks Raiden spun around toward the staircase where he walked up five flights of stairs to the fifth floor, where the location of the Visitor’s Tea Room was. It took a while, but he eventually made it to the top. Taking a few deep breaths, Raiden made his way into the tea room and scanned the room; it didn’t take long for his eyes to fall upon the easily recognizable, platinum blond hair of Scorpius Malfoy. Raiden made his way over to his once friend. Standing over him Raiden cleared his throat to announce his presence. “Scorpius,” Raiden said nothing more, he would wait to see the response from Scorpius before he continued. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * status: finished word count: 937 words lyrics: teenagers; my chemical romance coding: me actually notes: had to add something about Regulus, lol

------------------------------------------------------ The tea was good, sweet and warm. It was nothing like the one he’d drank back home, early morning or during the restless nights, but it was nice. He picked one of the small biscuits, vanilla with white chocolate. That too was good, he hadn’t imagined the food to be actually that good. He hadn’t visited St. Mungo’s before this day, most of his illness and injuries were treated at home, there hadn’t been a need for him to visit the hospital. He looked around the room again, he now noticed some healers walking around. The looked very young, students perhaps. He hadn’t paid much attention to healers before, he knew some spells. Mostly for small injuries, nothing that any other Seventh year wouldn’t know. But all of these healers, they knew so much. They were the ones that had kept his father alive, he couldn’t be more thankful towards them.
He looked down at his tea, they were close to a war. It seemed clear now, no Death Eaters. But his father, he had been attacked for a reason and not a good one. All of them could be in danger from an attack. The ministry was unable to protect everyone, he had learned that the hard way. Scorpius was afraid, he was terribly afraid for his friends, family and himself. He had dueling skills(something he now thanked Bellatrix for), but it wasn’t enough. He needed to be better, some stronger healing spells for once. If anyone was hurt he wanted to be able to do more than stand around, he wanted to be of actual help. Save lives, not allow them to die before his eyes. He took another sip now, he had been crying all day. But that wasn’t going to help anyone, specially not his father.
He wanted to be sure of himself, but the only reaction his body gave was a weak sob. He wanted to be strong. He really did. But it felt impossible, his walls felt down on him again. The healers assure them that Draco would be fine, but his state was depressing. His father had been a strong solid figure, maybe not as brave as Harry Potter. But he had protected his family with everything he had. Now he couldn’t even talk, see them, wasn’t even aware of what was happening around him. His father hadn’t been an angel or a hero, but Scorpius knew that he didn’t deserved it. He hadn’t been armed, his wand had been found in his room. The same place he had always kept it, it hadn‘t been moved that night. Who ever had done it, they had attacked an unarmed man. He wanted them/he/or she in Azkaban right now.
He took another zip from his drink, it was getting cold now. He finished it with one long gulp before standing up to get more. On his way Scorpius picked a small book on healing spells and potions. He would be able to get a better one in Diagon Alley, but it would do to keep his mind away from other things. He sat back on the table, fresh cup of tea and book at hand. He’d been distracted reading the later when Raiden came in. He jumped at the hello, almost spilling his tea. He turned around looked at who had been his childhood friend. He’s seen Raiden’s parents, they like many other pure-bloods had come to visit. But he hadn’t expected Raiden Nott to show to see his father. Specially after Scorpius betrayal towards the Death Eaters and himself.
He had received a letter from him, but Scoroius had viewed the letter as a formal thing. Maybe under his parents orders, but now that he’d come he wasn’t sure what to think. At least it was a busy place and Raiden whatever his intentions were would be unable to hurt him. Or so he hoped. “Raiden. How have you been.” He hadn’t spoken to the other Slytherin in so long that he wasn’t sure what to say. “What are you doing here, I never knew you were fond of my father?” He didn't want to appear ungrateful for the visit, but their last meetings hadn’t been on the best of terms. All Malfoys had been marked as traitors one way or another.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * On the climb up to the Tea Room, Raiden had wondered if Scorpius might be surrounded by the likes of the Potter and Weasley children that he had befriended and vice versa. No matter how much thought and preparation had gone into the plan there was always the possibility that the annoying off-spawn of ‘the famous trio’ would somehow mess everything up, by attaching themselves to Scorpius and having him allow them to do as such. It would of course be considered the right thing to do, but what did they really know about Draco Malfoy apart from the information that they had heard through the grapevine or any information their parents had told them. What did they really know about Scorpius in all honesty? Sure, Scorpius wanted to believe that they knew the real him, but Raiden didn’t think it likely, when he doubted Scorpius knew the answer to that.
There was always the possibility that Raiden was being hard on Scorpius but he was beyond the point of caring. He had cared once, as much as his ice cold heart had allowed, and look where that had got him. Now he would concentrate on the more important things. The things that truly mattered. It was with this in mind that he would get through the day, get through this plan without a hiccup. Standing as always with his back straight, looking more imposing than ever, courtesy of his many hours of physical training and never to forget his perfect hair, Raiden waited patiently for Scorp’s response. The response would determine everything that happened next. As manipulative and cunning as Raiden was, for any endeavour of his to be successful he had to pay close attention to everything. Body language, the words used, tones, every little flinch and for the perfectionist type of person that Raiden was, it was easier than other might find it to be.
As Scorpius jumped at the greeting, almost spilling his cup of tea, Raiden realized that it was not going to be easy. He had never thought it would be a walk in the park, but he didn’t believe it was going to be so difficult. Then again they hadn’t really parted on the best of terms when they had ended their friendship. There had been a lot of anger and built up resentment that had bubbled to the surface that day and not to forget the loss of temper that had resulted in the one hitting the other. That was not a good moment for either of them. After that they hardly saw each other, spoke to each other, and that was an accomplishment in itself since they were in the same school, same year, and same house, both on the house quidditch team and shared the same dorm. For two people that shared so many things, as Raiden stared down upon Scorpius, he could not have felt any further from a person than he felt at that exact moment even though he was a mere foot or two away.
Looking at the stool on the opposite end of the table where Scorpius sat, Raiden indicated his plan to sit with his eyes. Not waiting for a response, he pulled out the chair and seated himself, flinging his cloak of the chair before he sat ensuring he didn’t crease it. “I’ve been well thank you,” he looked Scorpius over, but not with a disapproving or judgemental gaze and tilted his head slightly. “I won’t bother asking how you’ve been. I suppose you haven’t had much sleep of late.” Raiden gazed at Scorpius for a moment before he slowly opened the right side of his cloak and took out his wand. Then with a few well spoken words a cup of hot black coffee appeared on the table before him and cup of tea that Scorpius had nearly drained filled once more and steam rose from it once more. Then he placed his was back in his pocket and returned his attention back to answering the last question Scorpius had posed.
“I’m here for the same reason my mother and father were here and the many other pureblood families I’m sure have already made an appearance.” The pressed his back against the cushioning of the chair he was seated on and his face took a serious note. “But mostly I’m here for the many memories I share with you about the times we spent at your family mansion with our parents watching over us.” He placed his hand on the table and allowed his forefinger finger to run up and down the side of his cup of coffee. “You did receive my letter did you not?” He allowed his gaze to linger before he turned his attention to the crowd in the tea room. “How is your father doing?” He would allow Scorpius a moment if he needed it before returning his attention back to him. Though he didn’t think he needed it. Scorpius seemed to be handling himself alright from a glance. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * status: finished word count: 840 words lyrics: teenagers; my chemical romance coding: me actually notes: something is up!

------------------------------------------------------ Scorpius glared at Raiden, unsure of what to do or say to his old friend and probably enemy now. They’d been such close friends since they were children, but their relationship had been cut, stepped on and completely destroyed. Even thought the lost of such a long friendship had affected him deeply, their last goodbye had been so sour that he had welcomed the distance. It wasn’t like he didn’t miss Raiden. The had been such good and close friends that just breaking the ties wouldn’t make all those memories go away. It had taken everything he had to ignore someone he shared a dorm and various classes with, plus someone that he had such a long history with. But he was also a reminder of Bellatrix, his family and everything that had crashed down on him.
He knew that Raiden wasn’t likely to turn and help the Order any time soon, which probably meant that he was still hoping to be part of the Death Eaters. It was a relationship that was more likely to hurt him, than help him. So at that time he had welcomed the separation, telling himself that it was for the best. Without the shadows of his past he had better chances of making healthier friendships. It hadn’t been as easy or fruitful as he would have hoped, but without the shadow of his old friends(who hadn’t been the nicest bunch) he had been able to make some acquaintance. Specially in the other houses and even other Slytherins, that he had previously ignored.
The types of friends that his grandfather would kill him for if he knew, half-bloods and muggleborns. Somehow that had helped forget, forget his old friends and Bellatrix and the Dark Mark that thought not visible now was still there in his forearm. That probably made him into a coward, because he had ran from everything. He could argue with himself and say that no coward would have stood against Bellatrix and hear Death Eaters. But he had been a coward hiding his own past, his actions wouldn’t erase everything else. That he chose to forget instead of standing up and facing his family, even Bellatrix made him a coward. Things didn’t work with a bang, I’ve joined the good guys, hey old friends I’ve meet some new ones and I’m ashamed to be seen with you.
Somehow that had sounded silly after his mind went over it, he blamed his lack of sleep. Scorpius looked at Raiden and then back at his tea. Sighting and picking the cup up, drinking it all before placing it back down. “Yes, I got your letter.” He stopped talking and glanced at the eldest Nott coldly, after the events of the past year and his father current state he had become distrustful, more vigilant and jumpy than ever. Their words had been harsh in that last goodbye, he wasn’t opening his shields to someone he didn’t fully trust. His current emotional state was bad his father’s attacked had crumbled some of those barriers and he was probably more open that he had been previously.
But if his aunt Bellatrix had taught him something useful was how to control some emotions and right now he was using all that knowledge. He just pleaded that it would be over soon, he wasn’t sure if he could keep his cold and cool mask up for long. “But since the news came out lots of people have written, people that I personally know don’t really care for my father’s state. After our last interesting meeting, I hardly thought you had a change of mind. True that you may feel bad for my father. But not really towards the traitor of the family.” He stopped waiting for Raiden’s response, he was looking forward to his reaction. Their last meeting had been unexpected in many ways, but he had prepared himself mentally better. The only reason why he was still keeping control now.
He picked his book up, putting it away on his coat. He would read it later, when he was more focused in the spells and potions. Right now he was more interested in why Raiden had come to him. It would have been better for him just to see his dad and be on his way, why talk to him. After all the work that had gone to staying apart, why come and see him. If he hadn’t gone through multiple strange things in the past day, he would believe this meeting to be a bad dream. “But I guess I should be surprised, it was Regulus Lestrange who first informed me of my father incident. With all of my mother’s family around, it took Regulus Lestrange to remember that I needed to know.”
He had been so busy that Scorpius had forgotten to thank him for that. His relationship with his cousin had been very neutral. If this had changed after he had turned his back on their mother he couldn’t tell. None of Bellatrix’s children reminded in Hogwarts.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * the boys and girls of the clique the awful names that they stick you’re never gonna fit in much kid but if you’re troubled and hurt what you’ve got under your shirt will make them pay for the things they said
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * So it seemed that although Scorpius had lost many a thing, some might even argue his mind, taking into consideration all of his actions against the cause. It seemed dear Scorpius had not lost the information he had gained from his years of being taught from the likes of Lucius Malfoy, his grandfather and his aunt, Bellatrix Black. It was a pity, a distraught, un-nerved, unhinged Scorpius Malfoy, lacking of all coherentness would have made things all the more easy. Yet, it should have come as no surprise to Raiden. Things never came easy to him. He worked hard to achieve his desires. Yes, he was blessed with many things like wealth, good looks, some might say an above average intelligence, but things never landed on his lap like it had for Scorpius. Those things that he had truly desired he had had to push himself to extremes to achieve. With such knowledge in mind however, Raiden expected this meeting to come to the outcome of his desire, even if now it seemed everything was falling to pieces.
The glare that Scorpius extended his way would have caused any other man to cringe or back down. What it did to Raiden was completely opposite. It ignited a flame in him. First due to believing Scorpius had no right to respond in such a manner after he was only being civil and second because he viewed it as a challenge, and challenges were thrilling. You see what Scorpius was unaware of was a secret weapon of his. A weapon that he had come across one frosty evening, upon the grounds of Hogwarts. A secret weapon, with fiery red hair, who happened to be slightly clumsy and had a famous father. This someone Raiden planned to use against Scorpius’ belief that he was the same person he was when their parting of ways had occurred. It was partly true of course. Raiden no longer viewed muggleborns and the sort the way he once had. He still would not prefer them to a pureblood, but he had come to an understanding that the thinning of blood that was pure was bound to happen. Raiden was still on the same path as always, but this weapon of his might assist him in convincing Scorpius that not everything was, as it seemed.
Listening quite intently to Scorpius’ words, yet remaining slightly aloof in the conversation, so that it did not come across Scorpius’ mind that he was trying to read him, trying to find that tiny whole in his words that would allow him entrance into that place of trust once more, Raiden nodded. Before he replied he brought his cup of coffee up to his mouth and took a sip or two from the cup. “It’s good to know all things have not been lost on you Scorpius.” Turning his attention back to Scorpius from eyeing a witch two tables over from where he sat who had a rather beautiful face, he smiled. “Meaning of course that you haven’t just left behind everything you were taught.” It was a slippery slope, taking the direction of truthfulness, but after listening to the young Malfoy, he had decided it might be the best approach. “Why waste my time with you? You who turned your back on our friendship, you who lied to me many a time so that you could be with your newly acquired friends? You who stabbed your own flesh and blood in the back?” There was a moments pause, Raiden letting everything sink in, making Scorpius consider with even more vigor why in deed his old friend would bother with him.
Resting his arms on the table positioning them so that they rested on either side of the cup, Raiden leaned in more closely, so that the words he now spoke were just for Scorpius’ and his own ears. “Why would I waste my precious time with you a labeled traitor, when it might reflect badly on me?” Raiden allowed his eyes to search Scorpius’ own for a moment before he leaned back in his chair, picked up his cup of coffee once more and drank the last of it, returning the cup to the table with only the slightest of thuds. “The two of us are not the same two boys we were that day in the common room. Our time spent apart has allowed us to discover new avenues of ourselves and perhaps even build upon things that we thought we would never be able to. I’m speaking of course only from the knowledge of what has happened to me, but I am sure it remains true for you as well.” Returning his attention back to the girl with the beautiful face, Raiden continued. “I spoke some very harsh words in the common room that day, out of anger, out of a sense of betrayal, but I have now come to an understanding that it was more out of jealousy.” He laughed a rather charming laugh and tilted his head some. “The fact that I am able to admit that out loud is mere evidence of my growth, but yes I was jealous not only of you but of the Potters and Weasleys that seemed to be more intriguing to you then I.” With a slow turn of the head, Raiden’s eyes were focused once more on Scorpius. ”What I’m trying to get to say, in a very roundabout manner is that I don’t see you as a traitor. I see you as someone who merely tried to stick up for what he believed in and who am I to say you should have done otherwise.”
Raiden watched as Scorpius picked up the book he had been reading before his own arrival and placed it in his cloak. He kept his mouth as Scorpius did as such, but was careful to watch that he had no intention on leaving the conversation before Raiden considered it done. When Scorpius mentioned Regulus, Raiden hardly took notice of it, or at least made no sign as if he had done as such. To him it was merely as if Scorpius was talking about one of his mothers many animals. When Scorpius was rested once more Raiden continued on with his long rambling. ”The point that I’m trying to get across with my rambling, is that I’m here for you because I want to be and because I know that you need someone at your side at this moment who not only knows you, but you mother, your sister and your father in almost the same intimate manner that you yourself do.” He gestured to the room. ”That is why your new friends aren’t here? Correct me of course if I’m wrong. Someone who has a deeper understanding over what you might be feeling at present because of the history they have shared together.” With a small smirk Raiden concluded, ”Not everything is always black and white there are always shades of grey.”

------------------------------------------------------ It seemed like Raiden and him would end up having a staring contest today, or at least he was having one. It wasn’t the way he wanted his day to go. He had better things to do, actually he didn’t. But he still didn’t want to do it, even if the other option was to have staring contest with the wall. His current train of thought was probably that of an angry small child and not a seventeen year old. Bur Scorpius wasn’t in the mood to act mature, he hadn’t slept was hospitably tired and hungry. His almost pout mixed with angry stare was a fair reaction to how he felt. It didn’t help his situation that the sensitive part of his mind was aggravated by his childish reactions. Or that same part of his mind was grateful that Raiden was there. No matter how many of his friends came to him, Raiden was the only one that would understand.
The only one that really knew his father and could understand how his state affected Scorpius. That fact alone made him angry, he wished there was someone else who had that knowledge. It was something that Raiden could use against him and since he didn’t trust Raiden, it also made him afraid. I’ve lost nothing, I’ve only gained more.” He wasn’t going to let Raiden use guilt against him, betraying the Death Eaters was the only worthy thing he had done in his seventeen years of life. He glanced at Raiden, maybe they had avoided each other. But others had not, they at first had made sure to remind Scorpius of his actions. Even after they had tired after some weeks, he could still see their angry glares and mocks. It had prepared him thought, to stand the glares that truly mattered to him. Of course right now he wasn’t as prepared because of his father and Raiden’s words affected him more than if the situation had been different.
“Raiden..” He tried to keeps his voice down, right now it wasn’t the time to fight. It was hardly the time or place for such childish actions, both Raiden and himself were adults now. No matter how angry he felt, he needed to control himself. “I have no wishes whatsoever to fight you right now. I’m worried for my father and tired. I doubt this is the time for us to start pulling each other’s hair like small children.” He tried to smile, but what came out was more like a sad grin. He looked down at the empty cup, the white porcelain reflected his face slightly. He smiled slightly at his reflection. If he continued to stress like he as doing he would end up like his father, bald and terrified of everyone around him. With his father state he felt guilty for thinking that, but it was the true that he had learned as a child. Probably one of the reasons why he had decided to take a different path than his father and grandfather.
‘I never wanted to be part of anything Raiden, I enjoyed our friendship. But I wasn’t going to force myself to do what I was doing, you are the one that didn’t accept my choices. I never wanted you to agree with them, but to at least accept my decision to break away from her. Scorpius didn’t dare to pronounce his aunts name in public. Even if he continued to speak softly, people would begin to notice them. The last thing he wanted was for someone to hear the name of one of the worse followers that Voldemort ever had. Already the Malfoy name brought strange looks, his family would always be connected to Dark Magic. Something that he wanted to break away from. He finally glanced at Raiden, he didn’t want his old friend to see the anger. But if he glanced away it would just give the appearance of fear or weakness. He wasn’t backing down anymore. Standing to Raiden was harder. Because he had loved him as a friend, unlike Bellatrix whom he had hated. But he would do it never less.
“Yes, I have grown since that day.” He was no longer the spoiled child f the Malfoy family. His grandfather had not been kind to the news of his grandchild living with Potters. He received no income from them, thankfully hi mother’s family had been kinder. But Scorpius had not dared to ask to much from their own kindness. His new friendships had taught him that no matter what he had been taught as a child, pure-bloods and muggle borns weren’t that different. Anyone he thought that, he believed was a fool. He looked at Raiden, more than a bit surprised. He looked away quickly, not sure what to say at his words. The thought of Raiden jealous of Potter or even Weasleys wasn’t one that could fully cross his mind. ’I thought you were intriguing enough, I mean not as them. But that’s just because I know you. I too was angry that day, I expected that my actions would be understood.”
He felt another rush of guild, he had believed that only encountering his fathers once more would cause him to feel that way. But Raiden had proven him wrong. “I’m not going to say I’m sorry for what I did, I can’t. But I don’t want to fight with you.” He only wanted to fight with those that had hurt his family. The people that had touched the thing that even if he had ran away from, was the most important thing to him. His family. Just like he couldn’t hate them, even after his childhood. He didn’t want them to suffer like that. “Let’s make at least a temporary truce.”

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Through this tiresome back and forth it was becoming apparent to Raiden that Scorpius was keeping himself secure behind his heavily fortified wall. Raiden could understand the reason why, but it was beginning to annoy him. So almost everyone that you had once considered friends had turned their backs on you, they had only done as such because he had turned his back on them. Scorpius had made the first move everyone else’s action was merely a reaction to his own action. Not only that, but if he believed this step of his to be of such great importance then it shouldn’t have really mattered much. Heck Merlin knew that if anyone was to find out where his true allegiance lay and they left him alone in the damp darkness of isolation, he wouldn’t care, because it didn’t matter what others thought, others believed, his belief and contentment was what was important. It was becoming painfully evident that Scorpius although in a state over his father’s current condition was prepared to fight foot and nail to ensure that his old friend wasn’t able to manipulate him. It was such a gallant effort and Raiden appreciated it, but in the end his valiant effort was futile. Scorpius would bend to his will whether he wanted to or not. His weakened state made him vulnerable, and although he attempted to prove otherwise Scorpius had to be aware that Raiden knew this. They had been friends for a long part of one another’s lives and Scorpius had seen with his own eyes the inane ability Raiden seemed to have for manipulation. As Raiden listened to the words Scorpius spoke who grew more irritated, yet his eyes remained as calm as ever, giving away nothing. Resting quite comfortably on the chair Raiden ran his finger through his hair. It was a practiced effort, since he would never want to be seen looking a mess. He knew the exact point to start and stop and with what vigour of his fingers to use, to give it the exact look he wanted and still look like he was making a playful attempt of a sort. Bringing the hand and its accompanying arm back to rest on the table he sighed ever slightly, “I hardly want to fight with you Scorpius. If that is your belief than I have not been able to properly articulate myself.” Raiden tilted his head forward slightly to aid him in getting a view of his dragon hide shoes and to take his eyes off Scorpius. He could not believe what he was considering saying, but it was obvious now that Scorpius would hear what he wanted to until Raiden made a step of note.
Although it seemed his attention was no solely held by that of his shoes, Scorpius would know better. Raiden heard every word he said. He was tired of looking at Scorpius, having already come to a conclusion in relation to Scorpius’ current position. It was insightful to hear that his friend had found him intriguing, but less so than his new associates merely because he had known him for so long. Raiden could see Scorpius now in a slightly different light now, because of this little conversation. Perhaps even one day he would truly be able to forgive Scorpius, but that didn’t matter. Scorpius would never be a friend of his again knowing his true nature. Bending forward slightly so he could dust a speck off his shoes he returned to sit upright against the back of the wooden chair once more.
“Before I accept this truce you have propositioned I need to say something.” Raiden let out a deep breadth as if he was about to do something he had never done before [which happened to be partly true]. It was all for the overall effect though, for the viewers entertainment, which in this case was Scorpius. “I,” he paused, “would like to” another pause, clearly for dramatic effect, “apologise to you.” The words burned his mouth almost as if he had licked a flame. “I should have understood how you felt, I should have supported you,” Raiden looked away from Scorpius as if on queue, “I should have been a better friend. He didn’t bother looking back at Scorpius, but he continued speaking. “So with that said I accept your truce, though you have nothing to fear when it comes to me.” It was so easy for Raiden to lie and he did it so well. “So with this truce in place do you plan on telling me how your father is doing or am I merely going to be left to what I read in the Daily Prophet?”[/blockquote] * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * status: finished word count: 784 words lyrics: teenagers; my chemical romance coding: me actually notes: whoop, whoop.

Post by .SCORPIUS HYPERION MALFOY ! on Apr 24, 2011 22:02:24 GMT -5
------------------------------------------------------ Scorpius looked at Raiden carefully. This probably was the longest they had spoken since the fight. If that mattered, it was definitely an improvement to their relationship. Scorpius allowed his body to relax down a bit. He still wasn’t sure about what to make out of Raiden. But at least it was safe there. He doubted the other Slytherin would begin a fight with so many people around. Still he wasn’t sure of what to make out of Raiden’s words. He didn’t want to fight, that was definitely a full turn from their last meeting. As much as he wanted to completely believe the statement, he couldn’t forget the sour terms they had parted. He wasn’t ready to bring all of his defenses down. Scorpius would relax slightly, but he was still alert enough to stand his ground.
“I’m glad that you feel that way.” Scorpius decided to look at his friend better now. It reminded him of the occasions were he had to speak to his aunt. She was always watchful of his move and he terrified of making a mistake. Her death brought no joy to his heart. Not because he liked her in anyway, but because he felt sorry for her own children who had lost a parent. Bellatrix had been an insane one, but she had been their mother never less. Regulus’ kind words had reminded him that. Still knowing that she wouldn’t watch him anymore or touch his sister or family brought a sense of easiness that he hadn’t felt before. He hoped he would feel that sense of easiness talking with his old friend too, one day at least.
“I accept your apology.” He wanted to be in good terms after all, even if he still wasn’t sure Raiden was been completely truthful. Scorpius admitted that his reaction had not been the kindness. He had fought back as with great spite, fueled by what Bellatrix was forcing him to do. “I admit it was a silly fight anyway. I was angrier at myself than I was at you.” Scorpius stopped for a moment, blushing slightly. Part of his fight had been about his feelings towards Rose Weasley. Ironic enough things between the two had fallen soon after. “I’m not even with Rose anymore, things hardly worked between the two of us as a romantic relationship anyway.” They made better friends than a couple in the end. Plus the whole thing had given him more friends, Lily and Albus for once. He tried to ignore the small voice in his head that reminded him that Raiden would probably laugh at that later on or then.
At the mention of his father Scorpius looked down at his hands, any joy he had felt before had quickly evaporated. ”He’s pretty bad. But he’s going to be fine, at least that’s what the healers think. He’s going to be physically fine, but the whole thing was brutal enough that it may bring other issues.” Scorpius didn’t want to think about that. As an example the healers had used some of the victims (and few survivors) of Voldemort’s and his followers torture. Some had smaller problem, some trust issues and even things like nightmares and fears. But others hardly spoke anymore. Plus since no magic had been used on the attack, they weren’t really sure what the affects could be. Spells usually had counter spells and the like. “I’d rather not speak much about that myself, I’m sure knowing who you are the healers would be happy to give you information.” It wasn’t like they were tuning any curious wizard down on their questions.
As much as it hurt to accept it the idea that a member of a well-known wizard family was one of the bigger news the wizard community had received in a while. Plus Draco was someone that had such a bad history with wizards and muggles alike. “The only thing I care about now is for my father to get better and for whoever did it to be captured. Mr. Potter believes that the attack may have been caused by a muggle.” The last word came out with much spite, he probably sounded like his grandfather. But Scorpius couldn’t help but be angry. His father hadn’t been the best person as a child, but he knew that he hadn’t hurt anyone since Voldemort’s death. word count: 755 outfit: here lyrics: bruno mars - just the way you are credits: graphic/code by me tags: raiden nott/open notes: and a month later.
