ERISED;; will is standing with a girl who's face is shadowed; he can't make out any features or any distinguishing marks about her. in her arms is a small baby; from the looks of the clothing, it's a girl. playing around their feet is a young boy, maybe three or four. it's clear that what he wants most is a family and someone who will love him for him.
BOGGART;; the boggart that appears to will is a bit hard to understand at first, but it soon becomes apparent: it's a towering, blazing inferno, chasing down everything in it's path. the thing that scares will the most is fire or extreme heat, and this is what it manifests as.
PATRONUS;; will's best memory is of a simple day when it was just him, his brother and their mother, alicia. oliver was nowhere in sight, probably off in some other country playing a quidditch match, and so the three of them had decided to have a picnic outside. they spent the day just laughing and joking and throwing a frisbee around - it was one of the most carefree days he ever spent with his mother.
DEMENTOR;; when will was five years old and ben was seven, his brother had been away over at a friend's house. will was woken in the middle of the night by shouting, which he soon realized was his mother and father. he spent the entire night listening to his mother's high-pitched shrieking and his father's booming yelling shaking the walls of his room. he was too afraid to leave the bed and it's given him a fear of fighting ever since.
OVERALL PERSONALITY;; will is one of those nice guys that you can't help but like. he's always polite to adults, he's always kind to people when he meets them, and he's definitely one of the most generous people around. he can't go by someone who's obviously down on their luck without giving them some money and a few encouraging words. parents tend to like him because of the fact that he has actual manners. his mother brought him up to be a gentleman and he doesn't like to be thought of as anything but. he's proud to say that he's never once gotten into a fight with anyone, mostly because he's sort of the switzerland guy who tries to keep drama to a minimum. he hates to have any kind of conflict, and in the event that something does happen, he'll try his hardest to fix it. This doesn't mean that he interferes with other peoples' business - he stays out of things when they don't involve him.
he's incredibly funny, able to crack up just about anyone. no matter what the situation is, he'll manage to get a smile out of a person. the downside to his constant joking ways is that he often doesn't know when to stop, where the line is drawn and when he has to get back to being serious. his automatic reaction to dealing with things is through humor and that can sometimes annoy people. whenever someone needs a shoulder to cry on or someone to listen to their problems, will is always there. he can be told any secret in the world and he won't tell anyone about it, unless it's something serious and it needs to be told.
will is still waiting for his one girl to come along that he can spend forever with, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't date. he loves to treat a girl the way that she should be treated, with the utmost respect and care. he's a true gentleman, opening up doors and paying for everything when he does go out on dates. he tries to think outside of the box when planning dates; instead of the usual boring dinner scene, he tries to make it more fun, like taking a midnight walk on the shore of the black lake. however, he's still a bit upset that he hasn't met his right person yet when it seems like so many of his friends have. that doesn't mean that he won't stop trying, though.
SOMETHING VERY WICKED
THIS WAY COMES LOVE
PLAY BY;; matt dallas
EYES;; greenish-blue
HAIR;; dark brown, almost black
HEIGHT;; five eleven
WEIGHT one hundred and forty-eight pounds
MARKINGS;; one scar on his back from when he fell thirty feet off of his broomstick. it should have killed him, but he miraculously landed on a bush that cushioned his fall.
OVERALL DESCRIPTION;; will always feels as though he simply doesn't fit in with his family, in the physical aspect. while everyone else seems to have light brown hair and brown eyes, he's stuck with dark brown hair and greenish-blue eyes. he's told that he gets his eye color from his grandmother on his father's side and his hair color from his grandmother on his mother's side, but that doesn't lessen the fact that he really just doesn't seem to look like either of his parents. the only thing that he knows for certain he gets from his father is his tall stature and his slim, athletic body. he's exactly the same height as his brother, although a few pounds less.
he looks older than his brother for some reason that he's never quite been able to pin down. perhaps it's the lack of freckles, or the slight amount of stubble that's nearly always present on his chin, but one way or another, he really does look older than ben, something that annoys him to no end. in the scheme of things, he should look younger than his older brother, but he doesn't, and it's another physical thing that makes him stick out from his family. whenever they're traveling out and someone stops to talk to them, they always mention ben and seem to assume that will's a family friend. or, if they realize that will's one of the family members, they think he's the older brother.
he keeps his hair cut short for the most part, often styling it with some gel, but every once in a while he'll get lazy and allow it to grow out. it'll get shaggy and curly at the ends, until his mother finally forces him to cut it. as previously mentioned, he almost always has stubble on his cheeks and chin, something that he can't help. he shaves every day, but always by the end of the day he's sporting a five o'clock shadow. his face looks round in some pictures, but in other pictures, it's lean and has no trace of any baby fat.
his sense of style can only be described as laid back and casual. for the most part, he can be found wearing just jeans, sneakers and a t-shirt, but when the time calls for it, he cleans up quite nicely in a tuxedo.

HISTORY;; william ryder wood was born on october second, two thousand and seven to oliver wood and alicia spinnet. he already had an older brother, ben wood, so he was the youngest of his family. although there was talk of trying once more for a girl, another baby never happened for the happy wood family. will doesn't remember much of his early childhood, like most teenagers. the only memory that sticks out to him is when he was four years old, he declared that he hated his full name and wanted to be called will from then on. his mother laughed and told him that she hated william as well; he was only named that because it was the last name of his father's quidditch idol growing up.
from an extremely young age, will was thrust into the world of quidditch. both of his parents had been on the gryffindor quidditch team when they had been at school, and both oliver and alicia were world famous quidditch players. (alicia had retired from playing for the holyhead harpies soon after will turned five; she then got a job in the department of magical games and sports. oliver continued to play for puddlemere united, but after he turned forty, he retired and instead took up coaching the team). it was simply expected of ben and will to follow after their parents and become quidditch players as well. will took riding a broomstick like a fish takes to water, and that was the beginning of his love affair with quidditch.
he had a few minor mishaps playing over the years, the worst of which being when he had fallen thirty feet off his broomstick into a bush and had broken his back. by all accounts, he should have died, but miraculously, he didn't, and the healers at st. mungo's fixed him up good as new with only a long, twisting scar on his back to serve as a reminder. he's never been afraid of flying or getting injured on a broomstick, but he doesn't like the feeling, either. for his entire childhood, will looked up to his older brother, ben, and used to say that he was going to grow up to be just like him. he was always extremely close to his mother, but not as close to his father as his father would have liked them to be. he was always more of a mother's boy.
when he was eleven years old, he went off to hogwarts for the very first time. since the rest of his family had been in gryffindor, will had expected that he too would join the ranks of maroon and gold. when he got up to the sorting hat, however, he was instead sorted into hufflepuff. he was devastated for all of a week before he realized that he fit quite well into the yellow and black house, and ever since then, he hasn't regretted been sorting into that house. he tried out for the gryffindor quidditch team in his third year and has been playing on it ever since. he tries to stay out of the fight between his brother and his father, and has been successful at it so far. there's been nothing remarkable about his time at the castle and he doesn't really expect anything to happen.

cal had just gotten the news that his father wasn't doing as well as he could have been, considering the circumstances. in fact, he was doing so poorly that the healers had little hope that he was going to last another month, despite the vast amount of surgery that had been performed on him lately. when he had gotten the letter (written by his younger sister, emily, since his mother had apparently been too shaken up to write and matt could have cared less. it was times like that he wanted to just find his little brother and punch him in the face; shake him as hard as he could and ask him why no one in his family seemed to matter to him. then, he would remember that their father was dying and that maybe this was his way of coping, like how his way was to not tell anyone what was going on and keep it bottled inside), he had just crumpled it up and burned it in the fireplace.
the first time he had told someone that his father was sick, it had been jean, and that had been back in late november or early december, when holly gilmore, their childhood friend, had died as a result of a freak accident at the mayan ruins. it had just slipped out, sort of as a way to help jean cope (he wasn't sure now, looking back at it, how it was going to help her cope but at that point, he had thought it would). the second time that he had told anyone, it had been bella and it had been through a letter. bella was the most important person in his life, as selfish as that was to say considering his family and his best friends, but it was true. he would do anything for her, and he would usually tell her everything, except he had kept his father's sickness a secret for almost a year before telling anyone.
he hadn't given anyone, not even bella, any updates on his father since december, even though he had been asked more than once by both jean and bella. he just didn't feel up to telling them about the latest test or surgery his father had been put through, and he certainly didn't want to talk about his feelings about the whole thing. so, he had buried them all under the excitement of being engaged to bella. sure, he had proposed while they were a little young, but the two of them were meant to be. everyone said so. cal might have been a little out there and a little crazy, and bella might have been a bit more shy and withdrawn, but it was clear that they were two halves of a whole; the mac to each other's cheeses; two peas in a pod. in short, they completed each other. so, an engagement seemed like it was a good idea.
there hadn't been much planning yet, since they were only sixteen and in their sixth years, but he knew that would probably come at the end of next year. his mother was eager to get him married off to bella while she could still stand him (his mother's words, not his) and while bella's father probably still wanted to kill cal, he knew that her nanny, aine, was pretty excited as well. since the engagement, school had virtually taken over every single part of cal's life and he hadn't been able to see his fiancee in a long time. he had sent her a letter on the twenty-sixth of february, asking her to meet him in the castle common room. he would have asked her to meet him in the hufflepuff common room, but it was too crowded right then, and he wanted to meet her somewhere more private. since it was after-hours, not as many people would be in the castle common room.
he had figured that bella would put up a bit of a fight about being out after curfew, considering that she was a prefect and all, but she had been perfectly content to go along with him this time. when he had gotten to the common room, he had sat down on the couch and arranged the bouquet of flowers that he had bought bella in a vase, then relaxed for a little while before she came. he didn't get much time to think anymore, mostly because of school and his father, and it was nice to just be alone for a while. the reason that he had asked bella to meet him there that night was because it was yet another one of their anniversaries, or as he liked to say, their fifty month anniversary. he thought that was a pretty monumental anniversary and it was one that called for a nice, quiet date. he wasn't sure if she remembered, though.
