Personality Description:
Nathan is incredibly knowledgeable on many topics, including history - which he has lived through - and magic in general. He's extremely skilled, due to his centuries of practice, and he knows it. Nathan is quite proud of his skills, and somewhat vain about his youthful looks - that is, for someone nearly a thousand years old. Of course, he's quite good at hiding the vanity, but not the pride. It leaks out when he speaks to people about anything he's good at or knows anything about, which is pretty much anything. Thankfully, he's not obnoxious about it.
Kind, Caring, and Lenient
As a professor, he knows that none of his students are as skilled as he, but to help, he gives extra lessons to anyone who asks. Detentions from missed homework or acting up in class are almost non-existent, same with homework itself. History should be taught orally, not through writing essays or reading too many books, or so he believes. Of course, students are welcome to come visit him at any time to talk history or just about their day. Nathan has been listening to people for hundreds of years. Why stop now?
Gentleman and Pacifist
Nathan is courteous to the ladies in particular, as he grew up in the middle ages, though the ladies of modern times don't seem to appreciate it as much as they used to. He always calls people by their titles and last names, until he gets to know them very well, and that happens rarely. He also refuses to fight with anyone, except when absolutely necessary, which is much more often than he would like. Nathan might have the skills, but he doesn't want to have to use them.
Lost in the Clouds and Anarchism
Nathan dislikes the Ministry, and so he ignores their proclamations, which often means he doesn't find out about new things until much later than most. Nathan is too stuck in the past, and teaching history doesn't help. But his co-workers have learned, mostly, to tell him things as they happen, so that he doesn't get embarrassed by one of his students. But because of his dislike for the Ministry, he also often tries to teach his beliefs about non-government to his students, which often upsets the sons and daughters of Ministry workers, though on occasion, one agrees with him.
Impatient and Lazy
Of course, to balance out all of his great qualities, Nathan has two problems: impatience and laziness. The impatience only shows when he's really determined to get something done. When helping students or teaching, he can be quite patient, but otherwise, he's not. On top of that, he's rather lazy, preferring to do things with magic than actually get up and do them himself. That laziness doesn't include physical activity, as Nathan takes good care of himself, for fear of dying 'young' - young in looks, that is. [/ul]
